Connections Through Culture supports artistic collaboration between the UK and Palestine. Open to artists, cultural professionals, organisations, festivals, biennials, hubs, and collectives across disciplines. Grants of £5,000–£15,000 support meaningful partnerships, cross-cultural exchange, and long-term collaboration.
☞ K3 Center for Choreography
Deadline: August 12, 2026
A paid eight-month residency for early-career choreographers who have already created multiple works. Running August 2027–April 2028, it includes a monthly stipend, studio access, a production budget, and dramaturgical, technical, and production support. Residents will develop a new full-length work for presentation in Hamburg.

Deadline: August 15, 2026
The Local Saugerties and Silver Sun Residency offer a free 13-day residency in Woodstock, NY, for performing arts professionals worldwide. Agents, managers, producers, musicians, dancers, administrators, lighting designers, and others supporting the field are encouraged to apply.
☞ Center for Performance Research (CPR)
Deadline: August 24, 2026
CPR’s year-long Artist-in-Residence Program supports NYC-based artists working in contemporary dance, performance, and time-based forms. Experimental approaches, risk-taking, and the unexpected are encouraged. Six artists will be selected for residencies from January–December 2027.

The MENA Theater Makers Fund aims to serve as a catalyst for sustainability and innovation in the theater field by providing MENA cultural producers in the United States with critical funding to invest in their creative capacity to make lasting contributions to their communities and society. Congratulations to our fellow awardees!

Our twenty-first performance season kicks off with the World Premiere of Shabaab in Geneva, Switzerland, followed by the NYC Premiere of Losing It as part of our 2026 Benefit, and the African Premiere of Gathering in Tunisia (alongside more performance and engagement programs)! يسرّنا أن نعلن انطلاق موسمنا الأدائي الحادي والعشرين، الذي يستهلّه العرض العالمي الأول لعمل «شباب» في جنيف، سويسرا، خلال الفترة من 9 إلى 12 سبتمبر. ويليه لاول مرة في مدينة نيويورك عرض «تبًا» في 13 أكتوبر، ثم العرض الأول في أفريقيا لعرض «جمعة» (Gathering) في تونس يوم 23 أكتوبر، إلى جانب مجموعة من العروض الأخرى.

The Artist-in-Residence program supports one artist each year whose evening-length work is already in development and moving toward premiere. The six-month residency provides dedicated studio space, time, and resources to complete the work, culminating in a three-night performance run.
☞ Asian American Arts Alliance (A4)
Deadline: July 13, 2026
The second and final cycle of the A4 Arts Fund provides unrestricted operating support to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) arts and cultural organizations. Backed by The Wallace Foundation, the fund addresses funding inequities for organizations with annual budgets under $500,000.
☞ Loghaven
Deadline: July 15, 2026
Loghaven Artist Residency welcomes artists of all backgrounds and career stages. Located in Knoxville, Tennessee, the residency offers renovated log cabin housing, purpose-built studio space, and stipends to support the creation of new work.
☞ Dance Makers
Deadline: July 17, 2026
Dance Makers seeks Dance Curators for its fifth season. Curators will develop and support innovative dance projects beyond traditional venues, selecting and contextualizing programming for public presentation. Each curator receives an $8,000 CAD fee.

☞ Mobile Dance Film Festival
Deadline: July 31, 2026
The Mobile Dance Film Festival accepts dance films shot entirely on mobile devices. Artists may submit up to three films with no entry fee. Selected films will be announced in early September, with in-person screenings on September 23–24, 2026, followed by on-demand streaming throughout October.

SAVE THE DATE for the New York City premiere of Losing It on Tuesday, October 13 at Funoon in Brooklyn, followed by a conversation with the artists and a fundraising reception.

Created by YSDT artist Samaa Wakim and YSDT Artistic Director Samar Haddad King, Losing It explores how growing up under occupation—and carrying the trauma of previous generations—lives on in the body through movement and sound. Revisiting childhood memories and the moment fear for freedom first emerged, the work creates a space where reality and fantasy blur, and fear and hope coexist as means of survival.

Featuring an original score performed live by King, incorporating field recordings collected across Palestine since 2010, the piece brings together sounds of fear and safety until past and present converge.

Presented in more than 80 cities across 16 countries since 2021, this critically acclaimed work comes to New York City for one night only.

يسرّنا دعوتكم لحضور العرض الأول في نيويورك لعمل «تَبّاً – Losing It» يوم الثلاثاء 13 أكتوبر في مركز «فنون» في بروكلين، يعقبه حوار مع الفنانتين واستقبال لدعم العمل وجمع التبرعات.

العمل من إبداع سماء واكيم بالشراكة مع سمر حداد كينغ، ويتناول أثر النشأة تحت الاحتلال وما تحمله الأجيال السابقة من صدمات، وكيف تنعكس هذه التجارب في الجسد عبر الحركة والصوت.

ومن خلال استعادة ذكريات الطفولة واللحظة التي بدأ فيها الخوف على الحرية، يبني العمل عالماً تتداخل فيه الحقيقة والخيال، حيث يمتزج الخوف بالأمل بوصفهما وسيلتين للبقاء.

ويتضمن العرض موسيقى أصلية تؤديها سمر حداد كينغ مباشرة على المسرح، مستندة إلى تسجيلات ميدانية جُمعت من فلسطين منذ عام 2010.

We are excited to welcome YSDT’s newest board member: our dear friend and former collaborator, Yazan Iwidat!
يسرّنا أن نرحّب بأحدث أعضاء مجلس إدارة فرقة يا سمر! للمسرح الراقص: صديقنا العزيز وشريكنا السابق، يزن عويضات.

Yazan Iwidat is a Palestinian contemporary dancer, choreographer, and global digital health executive based in Brussels. He serves as Global Omnichannel Experience Associate Director at MSD (Merck), leading digital engagement strategies worldwide. A graduate of Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management and Birzeit University, he has contributed to award-winning global awareness campaigns focused on HPV, HIV, and melanoma.

Yazan began training in Palestinian dabke at age seven before studying contemporary dance with Sareyyet Ramallah Dance Company. Between 2009 and 2019, he worked professionally as a performer and choreographer and was part of the founding team of the Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival. He has performed internationally in productions including Badke (Les Ballets C de la B), Keffiyeh/Made in China (KVS Belgium), and Area Y (Sijilholm/Christopherson, Norway). His choreographic work has toured across Palestine and Europe, and he has led community dance projects with institutions such as BOZAR in Brussels.

يزن عويضات هو راقص ومصمّم رقص فلسطيني معاصر، إلى جانب عمله التنفيذي في مجال الصحة الرقمية العالمية، ويقيم في بروكسل. يشغل منصب المدير المشارك العالمي لتجربة التواصل الرقمي الشامل في شركة MSD (ميرك)، حيث يقود استراتيجيات التفاعل الرقمي عالميًا. وهو خريج كلية سولفاي للاقتصاد والإدارة وجامعة بيرزيت، وساهم في حملات عالمية حائزة على جوائز للتوعية بفيروس الورم الحليمي البشري (HPV)، وفيروس نقص المناعة البشرية (HIV)، وسرطان الميلانوما.

بدأ يزن مسيرته الفنية مع الدبكة الفلسطينية في سن السابعة، ثم تخصّص في الرقص المعاصر ضمن فرقة سرية رام الله للرقص. وعمل بين عامي 2009 و2019 راقصًا ومصمّم رقص محترفًا، كما كان من أعضاء الفريق المؤسس لمهرجان رام الله للرقص المعاصر. وشارك في عروض دولية بارزة، منها Badke وKeffiyeh/Made in China وArea Y. كما جالت أعماله الكوريغرافية في فلسطين وأوروبا، وقاد مشاريع رقص مجتمعية بالتعاون مع مؤسسات ثقافية مرموقة، منها BOZAR في بروكسل.
