🌎🎒 The Global Classroom program uses different themes to help students explore cultures from across the globe. This week, we’re spotlighting three themes: Cultural Arts, Global Citizenship, and Investigating Conflicts!
🎨 Through the Cultural Arts theme, youth learn about a day in the life of a kid their age in another country and engage in hands-on activities to put their creativity to the test! Past art projects include Turkiye’s evil eye, Mexican Day of the Dead flags, Vietnamese Lunar New Year envelopes, Bangladeshi henna art designs, making Indian Diwali lanterns, and crafting the United Kingdom’s flag!
🧭 Through the Global Citizenship theme, we get to dive into different social issues, and consider solutions! Past presentations have tackled the education system in China, chocolate production in Mexico, resource access in Botswana, the refugee situation in Lebanon, the environment in Taiwan, and gender equality in South Korea.
🥊 Through the Investigating Conflicts theme, young people explore a conflict from either a country’s history or from the present day, and explore what routes to peace might look like. Past presentations have focused on the India/Pakistan conflict, migration in Italy, Azerbaijan’s territorial conflict, the Russia/Ukraine war, the history of Dutch colonization, and religious conflict in Uganda.
