Measles cases continue to rise in the U.S. due to declining childhood vaccination rates, already surpassing the total number of cases from 2025.

Measles is preventable. Two doses of the MMR vaccine are 97% effective against measles: on.nyc.gov/measles

New York City is opening 51 safe overnight locations tonight ahead of heavy rain and potential flash flooding. With dangerous conditions possible, especially in basement apartments and flood‑prone areas, New Yorkers are urged to make a plan, limit travel, and stay alert. 
 
Visit on.nyc.gov/SafeLocations or call 311 to find a nearby safe location. Safe overnight locations will open tonight at 8 p.m. and remain available while dangerous conditions persist. Service animals and pets are welcome.

The U.S. has now reported the most measles cases in any year since 1991, reaching the highest level in 35 years.
