Our program, "Let's Make a Movie," blends hands-on film production with social-emotional learning, giving students the tools to tell their stories while building confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills.

✨Flashback to a premier at a Bronx Middle School! This was the 6th grade film called “Get Luce” about a transfer student who gets bullied. Little do they know he has special powers and gets the ultimate revenge *insert evil laugh*

We did it again! Another successful
The Ageless had its premiere, our students took the stage, and another incredible school year is officially in the books.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible- our students, guest instructors, teaching artists, school staff, and every parent who showed up to support.

Can’t wait to see what stories the 2025-26 year has in store.

I started the Bronx Film Initiative in 2017 because I wanted to make films, and more importantly, I wanted to create something for the next generation of filmmakers and storytellers. I had been exposed to the world of film and television in a way most kids from my neighborhood hadn’t. And I knew firsthand how powerful and transformative that exposure could be.

Fast forward to today, and I’m proud to say we’re doing exactly that through our Let’s Make a Movie program! It’s a dream come true!!

Taking students from script to screen with the help of real working professionals. We’re giving them the tools and the resources to tell the stories they want to tell, while opening their eyes to the career possibilities that exist in this creative world.

At Legacy School of the Arts, our students collaborated with screenwriter Titus Peoples (), guest director Jamal Hodge (), and DP Steve Franchek () to bring their story to life.

Looking back at the sold-out red carpet premiere of AJ’s Story at AMC Lincoln Square, we’re reminded of the power of storytelling and the incredible students who brought this film to life. Over 30 young creatives stepped behind and in front of the camera, proving that when given the opportunity, their voices shine. 🌟

That night was more than a screening—it was a celebration of dreams realized. The energy, the pride, the magic of seeing their work on the big screen? Unforgettable.

As we reminisce on this milestone, we’re also looking ahead. More films, more students, and more stories that deserve to be told. 🎥💫
