What keeps us going? It’s moments just like this. ❤️
Every time we walk into a hospital or healthcare facility, we’re reminded that music isn’t just sound; it’s connection, comfort, and sometimes even joy in the middle of a difficult day.

We see patients’ faces soften, volunteers light up, and for a few minutes, everyone in the room shares the same moment of peace. Those smiles, those small sparks of relief and happiness - that’s what fuels us.

The stage is set and the icons are ready—we’re finally pulling back the curtain on Music Heals Live! 🎸✨

We are beyond excited to announce Music Heals Live!, an unforgettable evening celebrating the healing power of music. We’re bringing together some of the most iconic voices in the world to honor the legendary Reba McEntire, Mitch Glazier of The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and MOC Volunteers Daisy Perez, Dianna Perez, Jeff Scornavacca, Keenan Kamae and Stan Garrison.

We have an absolute powerhouse lineup taking the stage for special performances, including:

Last week, we celebrated our first program at UCSF Health Parnassus Hospital! There were many smiles and bedside sing-alongs. One standout moment: the musician played “Take Me Home, Country Roads” for a patient—only to learn they were from the Blue Ridge Mountains. “That taste of home really filled my cup. Thank you.”

Thank you to Jenica of UCSF Parnassus, our long-time volunteer Travis Atz, and the UCSF team for helping us launch this new partnership and make moments like this possible. We can’t wait to continue delivering the healing power of music across the Bay Area. 🎶

Every month, something magical happens in the courtyard of TriStar Centennial Medical Center. Music has the power to uplift, especially during life’s hardest moments 🎶

"This was my first shift for MOC and it was amazing. We performed for one patient who said yes when we checked in to see if he wanted a song, but he wasn't exactly enthusiastic. I asked him if he preferred something upbeat or more mellow, and he asked for something like Blues music because that was what he liked and how he felt. I am a Jazz musician but I had a song in my repertoire that I thought would fit well.

I played a very blues-forward version of the Gershwin classic "Summertime." The patient loved it and seemed to have really turned around by the time the song was done. He told me after that he recognized the song and thanked me sincerely for playing it.

I could see in his face that he was glad he agreed to have a song. I feel like we left him feeling a bit better than when we arrived. It was an amazing experience as a musician, especially for me as this was my first time volunteering."

We’re so grateful to our hospital partners like HCA Healthcare for making it possible for our incredible volunteers to bring comfort, connection, and a little extra joy through the healing power of music.

Hospitals can feel scary and lonely, but sometimes something as simple as a song can brighten the entire room. 🎶💛

At Musicians On Call, we see every day how healing can come in many different forms and music is one of the ways we help lift spirits for patients and families. During our visits, those quiet moments often turn into smiles, little dance moves, and shared laughter.

It’s a beautiful reminder of the joy and comfort that music can bring, even in the toughest moments.
