Check out ACP's August Protégé Spotlight!

This month, we are highlighting the mentorship between a USAA Mentor and her United States Army National Guard Spouse Protégé.

Find out what Mentor Nicole Page had to say about the efforts and dedication of Protégé Jasmine Then during their mentorship.

"Jasmine is an outstanding example of the impact that dedication, perseverance, and engagement can have through the ACP Mentoring Program. From the very beginning of our mentorship, she approached every conversation with humility, curiosity, and a genuine desire to learn. "

Congratulations to Jasmine on the nomination, and a big thank you to Nicole for providing her testimonial!

Every successful mentorship starts with a conversation.

Before an ACP Mentor is matched with a Protégé, they meet one on one with an Operations Associate for a personalized onboarding call. We take the time to learn about each Mentor's background, experience, interests, and goals so we can create thoughtful, meaningful matches that set both participants up for success.

The support doesn't stop there. Throughout the mentorship, your dedicated Operations Associate is with you every step of the way, checking in, sharing resources, answering questions, and providing ongoing support to both Mentors and Protégés.

At ACP, mentorship is more than a match. It's a partnership built on connection, guidance, and support.

Change a life in just one hour a month. Become an ACP Mentor today and learn more at acp-usa.org.

Today, on Purple Heart Day, ACP honors all Service Members and Veterans who have been awarded the Purple Heart, our nation's oldest military decoration still presented to US Service Members. The Purple Heart recognizes those who have been wounded or killed in action while serving our country.

We are especially proud to recognize the Purple Heart recipients within the ACP community. In honor of the day, ACP Mentor Mary LaFlamme Sarkisian shared the story of her father and the service that inspired her to give back through mentorship:

“Norman A. LaFlamme, LTC USA (Ret) - my dad was one of a very few Americans who served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

In March 1945, at age 20, he participated in the last major airborne operations in Europe. As a member of the 17th US Airborne Division, he made a combat jump across the Rhine into the enemy held Germany. Many aircraft were shot down on the way in. Once he and his comrades were on the ground, they ran into fierce German resistance. Dad earned a Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), and a bronze star on his jump wings denoting a combat jump.

Next, he served as an infantry officer during some of the most bitter fighting during the Korean War as the commander of F company of the famous 27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds) of the 25th Infantry Division. In Korea he earned, among other things, a star on his Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) denoting the second award. Few soldiers have a CIB with a star.

Then in 1966, dad transferred to the Adjutant General Corps (AGC) in Vietnam where he again served a year in a combat zone as a staff officer at Army Headquarters.

I am forever grateful for his extraordinary service to our country which is why I wanted to give back and become a Mentor with ACP.”

- Mary LaFlamme Sarkisian
ACP Mentor since 2023

Today, ACP is proud to support 31 Purple Heart recipient Protégés, with an additional 456 Purple Heart recipient Alumni who have participated in our program.

Did you know? ⚓

The U.S. Coast Guard is the oldest continuous seagoing military service in the United States, tracing its origins back to August 4, 1790, when it was established as the Revenue Cutter Service.

For more than two centuries, Coast Guard service members, commonly referred to as Coasties, have safeguarded our nation's waters through search and rescue, maritime security, law enforcement, environmental protection, and national defense.

Today, we celebrate the Coast Guard's birthday and honor the dedication, service, and sacrifice of all who have worn the uniform and embodied its motto, Semper Paratus– "Always Ready." 🇺🇸

⚓ Happy Birthday to the U.S. Coast Guard, and thank you to all who have served.
