Flashes of Hope Philadelphia A non-profit providing photo shoots at CHOP in Philadelphia area. For a few moments, it doesn't seem like a hospital.

Children who haven't wanted to get out of bed are suddenly laughing and smiling. And, nurses take a break from administering medicine to join in the fun. Each month our volunteers transform hospital playrooms, waiting areas and even hallways into photography studios. Talented make-up artists help the children and their moms look and feel their best. Then each child is photographed individually and

with their closest supporters - siblings, parents and often a favorite nurse. Each family is presented with framed enlargements, proofs and a CD of all the images so they can make additional prints. Thanks to the efforts of hundreds of volunteers, all services are provided free of charge. A Flashes of Hope portrait is much more than a picture on the wall. It's an indescribable treasure that forever preserves the grace, dignity and beauty of each child.

So it is official- Flashes of Hope Philadelphia is 10 years old! We held our first shoots in Spring 2006. Seems like only yesterday we were finding photographers and volunteers to make this happen in Phildelphia and become the third chapter of this great organization. We have photographed hundreds of families in that time and owe it all to our amazing photographers who donate their time and talent every month. Thank you to Flashes of Hope for all they do to support all the chapters who have come into existence since ours!

A huge thank you to Zave Smith Photography and Karen Carey who were our two April photographers! Had a full day today with Karen at CHOP's new gorgeous space! And since she uses natural light to shoot, we were sooo thankful for a beautiful sunny day and lots of big windows!
