P.R.I.D.E. in Every Step.

For Shaun, R is for Resilience. It means moving forward through housing insecurity, substance use, incarceration, and the challenges of rebuilding a life after release.

After years of navigating barriers to stability, Shaun connected with CEO Denver as a participant. Today, he serves as a P2E Instructor and Outreach Specialist, helping others access the support, employment, and opportunities they need to move forward.

Reentry takes strength. Opportunity helps make it possible.

For many people leaving incarceration, missing identification, limited transit access, and lack of immediate funds create unnecessary barriers to employment.

Colorado’s new Reentry Readiness Act is a meaningful step toward changing that, guaranteeing $100 in release funds and expanding access to critical supports, including identification documents and transportation assistance, so people can move directly into employment opportunities after release.

When these barriers are removed, people leaving incarceration have a fair chance to work, earn income, and build stability.

In a recent feature from The Chronicle of Philanthropy, CEO President and CEO Sam Schaeffer shared how we are expanding access to reentry employment services through partnership, advocacy, and innovation.

Through Opportunity 2030, we are working to help lay the foundation for a national reentry system by expanding access to proven funding streams and scaling effective reentry employment models so more people returning home can access employment pathways, supportive services, and long-term economic mobility.

Recently, Department of Economic Opportunity Director Kelly LoBianco and Industry Strategies Manager Aneisa Bolton visited our final Landscape & Construction Pre-Apprenticeship cohort.

The visit provided an opportunity for trainees to share their experiences after incarceration and discuss how apprenticeship pathways can help create access to quality careers.

We're grateful for DEO's support and investment in training programs that expand economic opportunity and support long-term career growth.

Recently, CEO Executive Director & CEO Sam Schaeffer attended Blue Meridian Partners’ 2026 Partnership Summit, where leaders across sectors explored how innovation can expand access to opportunity.

At the summit, Sam shared CEO’s growing AI for Opportunity work — including our AI-powered job coach, accessible through a simple phone call, which helps people both preparing to return home from incarceration and those who have recently returned home practice interviews, strengthen workplace communication skills, and access support in environments where digital access is often limited.

Our approach is designed to expand access to coaching and preparation while also giving staff more time to focus on what matters most: building the personal connections, trust, and individualized support that are so critical to participant success.

At CEO, we believe technology should strengthen human connection, not replace it — making support more accessible, responsive, and human-centered at every stage of reentry.

P is for Potential.

For Reggie, Pride means showing up fully as himself without apology and refusing to let stereotypes, assumptions, or his past define his future.

For over 12 years, he has dedicated his work to LGBTQIA+ organizing and community leadership that helps others feel seen, respected, and valued. To Reggie, being justice-impacted does not limit his value. It deepens his understanding of why opportunity and inclusion matter in every space.

Reentry is a spectrum. Opportunity should be too.

Pico-Union is getting cleaner and more people are getting access to long-term economic mobility.

In partnership with Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez, CEO launched a new street cleaning crew in Council District 1 that connects formerly incarcerated Angelenos to transitional employment while supporting neighborhood beautification efforts across the community.

Thank you to The L.A. Local for highlighting this work and the impact of investing in reentry employment opportunities.

A huge win for reentry in Colorado!

Today, Governor Jared Polis signed the Reentry Readiness Act into law, ensuring that beginning January 1, 2027, every person leaving incarceration will have access to vital identification documents and the full $100 in gate money.

These resources can help people secure employment, access housing, and navigate the critical first days of reentry with stability and support.

This milestone reflects the power of justice-impacted people leading efforts to remove barriers and improve reentry outcomes for others returning home.
