Did you know? Kandyan dance began as an exclusively male dance tradition, deeply rooted in sacred ritual and ancient heritage. This piece was created by our Artistic Director Dilky Pinnagoda specifically for our only male Junior Dancer evan madurawala, for his very first solo debut!

Today, this powerful art form has transformed from grounds to world stages, welcoming female dancers who bring their own grace, energy, and precision to the legendary rhythm. ✨

Pathuru are a traditional percussive prop used in Kandyan dance, usually consisting of small, flat metal discs or wooden clappers that produce rhythmic sounds when struck or shaken. Using it to accentuate rhythm, enhance footwork, and add a lively, musical layer to the performance!

Naada Warna was different than any other performance we’ve done before. The rhythmic beats of Thammatam were woven in to the unique melodies of the flute, guitar, and violin. It truly proved that music connects us all across sounds and styles. ✨

The dancers use Sawaram to enhance graceful movements, highlight rhythm, and bring visual elegance to the stage. Rooted in Sinhalese culture, the dance symbolizes devotion, beauty, and the rich heritage of ceremonial storytelling.
