BREATH OF LIFE: TODAY'S LEARNING NUGGET

New York City, we have a celestial moment to experience today!

On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, NYC will see a partial solar eclipse, beginning at approximately 1:07 PM and reaching its maximum around 1:54 PM.

But THA Godmother NY wants to make sure the excitement doesn't come before safety.

🚨 PLEASE DO NOT LOOK AT THE ECLIPSE USING REGULAR SUNGLASSES.

Sunglasses are NOT designed to protect your eyes from the intense light of the Sun during an eclipse. NASA recommends using specialized solar-viewing glasses or a safe handheld solar viewer when viewing a partial eclipse directly.

So today's Breath of Life reminder is simple:

❀️ Protect your eyes.
πŸ“š Learn something new.
πŸ—£οΈ Share what you learn.
πŸ‘₯ Help someone else stay safe.

Because sometimes a little knowledge isn't just powerful, it can be protective.

A major investment in healthcare is a major investment in COMMUNITY.

Yesterday was a special day for the Bronx, and THA Godmother NY was honored to be part of it.

We joined Governor Kathy Hochul, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, Congressman Ritchie Torres, Assemblymember Emerita Torres, Assemblymember Yudelka Tapia, Councilmember Amanda FarΓas, healthcare professionals, advocates, community leaders, and Bronx residents at Lincoln Hospital to celebrate the funding of a new Cardiac Catheterization Lab.

For families in our borough, this is about much more than new equipment or a new space.

It means strengthening access to critical cardiac services in the community people call home. It means investing in a public hospital that generations of Bronx families have depended upon. And it means recognizing that Bronx residents deserve access to quality, lifesaving healthcare.

That's why being present for moments like this means so much to us.

At THA Godmother NY, we often say that we don't simply serve the community, we ARE community.

We are caregivers. We are patients. We are neighbors. We are advocates. We are the people sitting beside someone in a hospital room and the people working outside those walls to make sure our communities have the resources they deserve.

So when something good happens for the Bronx, we celebrate it.

When resources come into our communities, we recognize it.

And when progress happens, we want our neighbors to know about it.

Congratulations to Lincoln Hospital and to everyone whose advocacy, leadership, and persistence helped make this investment possible.

This is what investing in the Bronx looks like. ❀️

A phone call. A need. A community that showed up.

When we learned there was food that needed to be rescued, we immediately went into action. In the middle of this New York City heat, we knew there were neighbors who would benefit from receiving fresh food rather than seeing it go to waste.
At THA Godmother NY, we believe that food belongs on tables, not in the trash.

We're especially grateful to YMPJ for partnering with us to make today's pop-up food distribution possible. Their willingness to step in with transportation and support is a reminder that no one organization can do this work alone.
We love when our partners understand the assignment.

Thank you to everyone who helped make sure food reached the people who needed it most. Every connection is meaningful, and together we continue strengthening our community.

Be careful that your venting doesn't become gossip.
As much as we're called to become who we are and discover our purpose, so are the women around us. We don't build ourselves by tearing someone else down. Healing doesn't require exposing another person's character.
Real growth means learning when to speak, when to pray, when to seek wise counsel, and when to let God handle what we cannot.
If you're ready to grow in purpose, healing, and authentic sisterhood, we invite you to join us for the Becoming Her Virtual Experience on Friday, August 14.
Together, we'll explore what it truly means to become the woman God created you to be.
πŸ’œ Register today and invite another woman to join you. Sometimes healing begins with one decision.

We know where the plan comes from. And we know who carries us.

There are moments when the road feels uncertain, the work feels heavy, and the next step isn't clear. Yet even in those moments, we remember this truth: the plan didn't begin with us, it began with God.

And because He is the Author of the vision, He is also the One who sustains us through it.

Whatever God has called you to do, don't lose heart. Trust Him in the waiting, trust Him in the work, and trust Him with the outcome.

He never calls us to walk alone.

"The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it." β€” 1 Thessalonians 5:24

EXTREME HEAT ALERT FOR NEW YORK CITY
Tuesday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 15 are expected to bring dangerously high temperatures across all five boroughs.
Please take this heat seriously.
βœ”οΈ Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
βœ”οΈ Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest hours.
βœ”οΈ Wear light-colored clothing.
βœ”οΈ Never leave children, older adults, or pets in a parked vehicle.
βœ”οΈ Check on seniors, neighbors, and anyone who may need assistance.
