Jewish Community Relations Council of New York JCRC-NY builds relationships to advance the values, interests, and security of the Jewish community and to create a more interconnected New York for all.

The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC) is a leading resource for New York’s Jewish Community. Three years, and our hearts are still broken. We remember every life taken on October 7th, 2023. We carry their names, their light, and their stories with us, today and always. May their memories be a blessing.

We also hold close the families who lost loved ones, the survivors, the former hostages and their families, and all who still carry the weight of that day. May they find strength, comfort, and healing.

Fifty years of building bridges, celebrated right in our own backyard.

Last night, the Riverdale Y celebrated JCRC-NY's 50th anniversary, surrounded by the Riverdale Jewish community that has stood with us from the start. CEO Mark Treyger joined Rabbi Dovid Zirkind for a conversation on JCRC-NY's work building bridges across New York City, and we were honored to receive a proclamation celebrating our 50th anniversary from The Office of The Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, and to be joined by Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz and Council Member Eric Dinowitz.

Guests also got to see our 50th anniversary exhibit, tracing five decades of this work.

Building bridges, one celebration at a time.

At JCRC-NY, we're grateful to the NYC Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes for helping us bring Jewish and Latino neighbors together this past Sukkot, during Hispanic Heritage Month, for a special celebration: ¡Fiesta Sukkot!

Last week, JCRC-NY and the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood co-hosted the event, welcoming over 50 Jewish, Latino, and Jewish Latino community members into a beautiful sukkah at the Y and honoring Congressman Adriano Espaillat for his years of dedication to all communities. Thanks also to UJA-Federation of New York for their support.

Two fiestas, one shared spirit! This Sukkot, during Hispanic Heritage Month, Jewish and Latino neighbors came together in Manhattan and on Long Island.

On Wednesday evening, JCRC-NY and the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood co-hosted Fiesta Sukkot. Over 50 Jewish, Latino, and Jewish Latino community members gathered in a beautiful sukkah at the Y, where we also honored Congressman Adriano Espaillat for his years of dedication to the wellbeing of all communities. Big thanks to UJA-Federation of New York and the Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes for their support.

On Long Island, JCRC-LI, the Friedberg JCC, and the Long Beach Latino Civic Association welcomed more than 120 community members to Fiesta in the Sukkah for an evening of camaraderie, delicious food, and plenty of smiles.

Thank you to everyone who helped make both celebrations such a success! ¡Chag Sameach!

Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah are here! 🕊️📜 Shemini Atzeret comes right after Sukkot, and though it's connected to the Sukkot season, it stands as its own holiday, marking an additional sacred day of gathering and reflection.
Right alongside it is Simchat Torah, a joyful holiday celebrating the completion of the annual Torah reading cycle and the start of a new one. Stay tuned for more posts explaining these important high holy days!
