Meet Erin Nekritz, Urban17s Project Manager. Erin organizes our research programs and provides support to our researchers. Erin believes that every city will face challenges over the next century due to climate change and a growing population, and solutions to these problems need to be found now. She also believes that public health is fundamental to maintaining a peaceful and sustaining society.

When she's not finding solutions to the city's Sustainable Development problems, Erin is doing Breast Cancer research at Mount Sinai where she's getting her PhD, and playing the oboe, the piano, and dabbling with the saxophone. She has worked as a researcher at UCSF and did her undergrad at the University of Chicago where she studied Biology with a minor in Music.

“We need to ban plastic bags — the time for debate on this is over. They’re bad for the environment, they’re bad for the economy, they’re bad for New York.” - Mayor De Blasio

Hizzoner has previously expressed openness to an outright ban on the single use bags, but went further with his full-throated endorsement.
