Barry King B Davis reached out to us himself, mid-fight with Renal Medullary Carcinoma, one of the rarest and most aggressive kidney cancers there is. He was given three months. He lived almost two years past his June 2024 surgery, and he spent them making sure the next patient wouldn't walk it alone. Before he passed, he gave our founder permission to use everything she had of his story. Her article, 'When Advocacy Meets Assignment: Our Journey with Barry Davis,' is published in Testimony Magazine's May 2026 issue - read it at the link. If his story moves you, you don't have to play golf to honor him: https://golf.connectedthroughcancer.org/donate

Happy Independence Day. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

While the world celebrates freedom today, I want to honor a different kind of freedom β€” the freedom that comes when you refuse to let cancer define you.

I remember sitting in treatment, watching fireworks through a hospital window, wondering if I'd ever feel free again. I did. And so will you.

This 4th of July, we at Connected Through Cancer Foundation celebrate every patient, survivor, and caregiver who is fighting for their own independence β€” from fear, from uncertainty, from the weight of a diagnosis.

πŸŽ† You are not your diagnosis.
πŸŽ† You are not your hair loss.
πŸŽ† You are not your scans.

You are a warrior. And warriors get their freedom.

AI is now helping oncologists detect cancers earlier, flag drug interactions faster, and personalize treatment plans β€” giving patients MORE time to celebrate MORE Fourth of Julys. That is freedom through innovation.

Tag someone who is fighting for their independence today. πŸ’•

The word "remission" can feel like a breath of fresh air. πŸ’™

But the journey doesn't always end there.

For many cancer survivors, life after treatment brings its own challenges:
β€’ Fear of recurrence
β€’ Long-term side effects
β€’ Navigating follow-up care
β€’ Rebuilding identity after diagnosis

AI tools are now helping survivors:
βœ… Access survivorship care plans
βœ… Find post-treatment support groups
βœ… Stay on top of follow-up appointments and screenings
βœ… Connect with others who understand what "after" really feels like

Healing doesn't have an end date.

If you're a survivor or supporting one, what resource has made the biggest difference in the journey AFTER treatment? Share below.⬇️

Grief during cancer treatment doesn't wait for a convenient time. πŸ’™

It can show up during a treatment session, in the middle of the night, or in the grocery store when you see something that reminds you of who you were before diagnosis.

You don't have to process it alone.

AI tools are now helping patients:
πŸ’™ Access grief support resources any time of day
πŸ’™ Find therapists who specialize in cancer-related trauma
πŸ’™ Connect with communities of survivors who understand

Healing isn't linear. And support shouldn't have office hours.

If you or someone you love is navigating the emotional weight of a cancer journey β€” please share this post. It might reach someone who needs it today.

What if the next breakthrough in cancer research is happening RIGHT NOW β€” and you could be part of it? πŸ”¬

Clinical trials are one of the most powerful ways patients can access cutting-edge treatments AND contribute to research that could save future lives.

But less than 5% of adult cancer patients in the U.S. participate in clinical trials. Why?

Most people don't know they exist. Or they don't know how to find the right one.

AI is changing that.

Now patients can search for clinical trials matched to their specific diagnosis, location, and treatment history in minutes.

Knowledge is access. Access is power.

πŸ‘‰ Ask your oncologist about clinical trial eligibility at your next appointment.

July 4th is tomorrow. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

And while most of us are thinking about fireworks and cookouts, there are families quietly navigating cancer treatments this weekend.

For a patient in active treatment, a holiday can feel isolating β€” when everyone else is celebrating, it's hard not to feel the weight of what you're carrying.

If someone in your life is fighting cancer this summer, here's what they may need more than a holiday message:

❀️ A meal dropped off
❀️ Practical help with chores or childcare
❀️ A quiet check-in: "I'm thinking of you"
❀️ A resource list from an AI tool that helps them find support

We're Connected Through Cancer. And connection is the most powerful medicine that doesn't require a prescription.

πŸ’™ Share this if you know someone who could use extra love this holiday weekend.
