Hollywood’s current obsession with sequels has produced two announcements that, on the surface, feel similar but could not be more different in spirit. A new Dirty Dancing film is officially in development, while The Devil Wears Prada is also set to return to theaters in 2026. Both rely heavily on nostalgia, yet only one of them feels like it has a legitimate reason to exist.

It has been 38 years since Dirty Dancing first hit theaters and 16 years since Patrick Swayze died of pancreatic cancer. Lionsgate’s decision to move forward with a sequel, featuring Jennifer Grey reprising her role as Frances “Baby” Houseman and serving as an executive producer, sounds respectful in theory. The film is expected to return to Kellerman’s resort and build on the legacy of the original. In reality, it raises more concern than excitement.
The original Dirty Dancing was lightning in a bottle.

The killing of Alex Pretti by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis is no longer shrouded in anonymity. The names of the two agents who fired the fatal shots have now been made public through federal records, and with that disclosure, the case has entered a new phase. One that Pretti’s family says must finally lead to accountability, not another closed file and carefully worded press statement.

Federal authorities have now identified the agents involved in the January 24 shooting of Alex Pretti as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez, both deployed as part of a large-scale immigration enforcement effort in Minneapolis known as Operation Metro Surge. According to government records, 43-year-old Ochoa has been with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as a Border Patrol agent since 2018 and was assigned to the operation when the deadly encounter occurred.

When Nicki Minaj posted a shiny gold card featuring Donald Trump’s face and suggested it was helping her finalize U.S. citizenship paperwork, the internet did not simply react, it unraveled. What looked like a casual flex quickly spiraled into a political, legal, and cultural debate that had people dissecting motives, immigration law, and celebrity influence all at once. But this moment did not come out of nowhere. It was the culmination of a series of deliberate public moves that had already raised questions long before the card ever appeared.

The first major shift happened when Nicki publicly defended Donald Trump after he posted claims suggesting that white Christians in Africa were being killed. That statement triggered immediate backlash and widespread fact checking, but Nicki’s decision to step in and defend him is what truly shocked many longtime fans. It was not vague, neutral, or accidental.

As anticipated, the latest release of records connected to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation confirms that President Donald Trump is among the names appearing in the files, alongside other powerful and well-known figures. The disclosure, made public by the U.S. Department of Justice, does not issue new charges or findings of guilt. Instead, it places on the public record what law enforcement collected, documented, and assessed over many years while investigating one of the most notorious abuse cases in modern history.

At the center of the files is Jeffrey Epstein, who for years abused minors and used wealth, access, and social connections to evade accountability. Epstein pleaded guilty in Florida in 2008 to soliciting a minor and was later arrested on federal s*x trafficking charges in 2019 before dying in custody. His longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, was later convicted in federal court for her role in recruiting and grooming underage girls.

As Super Bowl LX approaches, the halftime show conversation has grown louder, more political, and more culturally charged than it has been in years. This is not just about music. It is about representation, messaging, backlash, and the NFL doubling down on its vision despite the noise. Here is where things stand right now, clearly separating what is officially confirmed from what remains speculation, and why this Super Bowl is shaping up to be one of the most talked about in recent history.
The biggest confirmed headline is the halftime show headliner. Bad Bunny is officially set to headline the Super Bowl LX halftime show. This is not a rumor, not a leak, and not a last minute pivot. The NFL announced the decision months ago and has repeatedly reaffirmed it despite criticism.

The February 3, 2026 expiration date tied to Temporary Protected Status for Haitians has caused understandable concern, confusion, and fear across immigrant communities. On paper, the date looks final. In practice, it is anything but settled. What is happening now is a familiar legal and political standoff, one that has played out before with other TPS designations, and one that rarely ends exactly the way early deadlines suggest.
TPS is not a universal program with a single expiration date. It is country specific and entirely dependent on conditions in the designated country as well as decisions made by the executive branch of the United States government. For Haiti, the current designation runs through February 3, 2026 unless it is extended, paused by court order, or replaced by new policy. That last part matters because deadlines tied to TPS are often disrupted by litigation, injunctions, or last minute administrative action.

The Haitian music world is mourning the loss of Dieudonné Larose, a singular voice whose passion, intensity, and spiritual conviction left a permanent mark on konpa and Haitian popular music. Larose passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 80, in a hospital in Quebec, Canada, where he had been living for several years.
Larose’s musical journey was anything but ordinary. He emerged almost unexpectedly, embracing music with the same devotion one might enter religion. From the beginning, he carried words and sounds straight from the gut, channeling emotion, drama, and the imponderables of stardom. In his early days, he was spotted in the narrow corridors of Bel-Air, performing with a small and obscure group where his vocal power and dramatic flights were already impossible to ignore.
His path soon led him to Shoogar Combo, a chapter that brought him early notoriety within a raw, sometimes debauched konpa scene.
