Fun Fact: Cancer and Careers is 25!

It all started in 2001 when Cancer and Careers was launched to address a critical gap in the survivorship conversation—how to think about and manage work in light of a diagnosis.

Our first publication came out in 2002, since then our library has grown to 23 publications in English and Spanish and we’ve distributed more than a million—always free of charge.

We’re going to have some fun over the coming months looking back as we look ahead. We’d love to hear when you first encountered CAC!

NBC 4 New York's Pat Battle announced in early January that she was stepping away from "Weekend Today in New York" to focus on treatment for triple negative breast cancer. In a recent interview, Battle shared, "I wasn't even going to take off of work. I thought I'd get a wig, some makeup, a couple of vomit bags, and I'll be okay, you know. And keep doing the show."

Scottish swimmer Archie Goodburn was diagnosed with Oligodendroglioma, a central nervous system tumor that affects the brain. While inoperable, he is receiving treatments to slow the growth of the tumors. Despite health issues, he has continued swimming, even breaking his nation's record for the 50-meter this past February and competing in the recent Commonwealth Games.
