Elijah came to Covenant House New Jersey after a winter sleeping in his car. Now, at age 24, he is a college graduate and is already working on his Master's degree.

The youth in our shelters have just as much potential and drive as anyone graduating college this spring. They just need the chance to show it.

Housing is what helps people overcome homelessness. Let's get people the help they need when they need it.

Kendra was one of those moms. Her family couldn't support her during her pregnancy, so she and her son Finn spent most of their first year together without a place to stay.

But as Finn's first birthday approached, Kendra felt it was important he turn one somewhere safe. She and Finn came to Covenant House.

Once she and her baby had the support they needed, Kendra thrived. She landed a job and got promoted to manager within months. She and Finn moved into our transitional housing where they finally had their own room. She started saving for college, where she plans to study social work or early childhood education.

For Kendra, motherhood started out hand in hand with homelessness. But homelessness didn't stop her from being the loving, generous, ambitious mother she is.

We’re proud to partner with the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation as they celebrate 10 years of making beauty a force for good. πŸ’—

For youth overcoming homelessness, feeling good about your appearance can be a huge mental health boost. Ulta Beauty has been an amazing partner in helping our youth feel their best, supporting mental health programs across the Covenant House federation and donating products to youth in our shelters. Together, we're giving young people what they need to feel confident, grounded, and beautiful during a difficult period in their lives.

Now through May 30, you can support this work by donating at any Ulta Beauty store. 100% of in-store donations support the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation and help fuel programs like ours that make a difference every day.

Destigmatizing youth homelessness isn't just important because it helps youth in crisis not feel as bad. It's important because it can actually help reduce youth homelessness overall.

β€œEven though I did the right things for as long as I can remember, homelessness can still happen to anybody.” -D.A.

At Covenant House, we see this every day. Youth homelessness isn't a problem with youth. It's a problem with our society that allows smart, motivated, driven, caring youth to fall through the cracks. But we make sure they're not forgotten.

Louisiana is working to pass a law that will force people experiencing homelessness to choose between going to jail or doing unpaid labor.

Neither of those things help people move beyond homelessness. We need solutions, not punishments.
