The Hudson Cliffs Baseball League is a community program for children of all ability levels that develops young peoples’ baseball skills and fosters a love for the game in a fun, positive, and inclusive environment. The HCBL is made possible by parent volunteers in conj
unction with the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood. Each team consists of approximately 12 players (depending on age division) and 2 –3 volunteer coaches. If you do not feel moved to become a coach, assistant coach, grounds crew member, or team parent, it is our profound hope that you volunteer your time in whatever way you find meaningful over the course of the season. Your child’s team relies on the support of ALL parents/guardians to properly run drills and games. Adult caregivers providing their time in service of the league will ensure an enriching experience for all participants. Remember: The HCBL is your community baseball league!
2017 AGE DIVISIONS
Each team consists of approximately 12 players, depending on age division, with up to 3 coaches (typically parent/guardian volunteers) per team. LIL' SLUGGERS: Born in 2012 & 2013 - 60-minute weekly intro to the joy of running the bases, swinging the bat, and having your mom or dad as coach! T-BALL: Born in 2010 & 2011 - Children learn basic gameplay skills and how to hit off of a tee before completing the day with non-competitive scrimmage
COACH-PITCH: Born in 2008 & 2009 - Children learn slightly more advanced game play skills and practice hitting baseballs thrown by parent-volunteers before completing the day with a non-competitive scrimmage
KID-PITCH: Born between 2005 and 2007 - Children learn rules of game, practice fundamentals, and hit balls thrown by peers before completing day with a scored, 6-inning baseball game. Season ends with 2-week play-off. Please note: We do not move children up age divisions, regardless of skill level. No exceptions. We may move children down age divisions if parent/guardian requests and the move is in best interest of all participants. The Dyckman Fields, located at the western-most end of Dyckman Street adjacent to the Hudson River and next-door to La Marina Restaurant. LEAGUE SCHEDULE

The HCBL is an inclusive baseball league. We welcome children with mild to moderate developmental and autism spectrum disorders. Our integrated programs reflect our desire to be inclusive whenever possible and to cater to the needs of each individual child. By adapting the experienced offered throughout the HCBL, we focus on providing everyone a caring, safe, and engaging environment. To ensure that each child's needs are properly met, we conduct an intake interview with each player with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) prior to the season. You'll have an opportunity to share information about your child's diagnosis and the accommodations he/she needs, at the time of registraiton. LEAGUE TUITION
$185 for members of the YM/YWHA of Washington Heights
$205 for those in the community without a membership to the YM/YWHA
The league provides full uniform (team socks, pants, shirt, and hat), all baseball equipment, fields, professional staff, trophies for all participants, a mid-season Carnival, and a bagel breakfast and BBQ the last week of the season! Refunds will not be provided. Full payment required in order to participate. Financial Assistance is available for qualifying families.
