What Makes a Pet Posh? Every animal deserves love. We believe that every pet, no matter the breed, Our adoption range is 2-3 hours within New York City.

Our foster homes are within 1-2 hours of New York City. ADOPTION PROCESS:
If you think a dog or cat we have in rescue, could be the right fit for your family, you first need to submit an adoption application (which can be downloaded on our website: https://poshpetsrescueny.org
There is a disclaimer in the application Please read to you understand our process
If contacted by one of our Adoption Counselors after we have gone thru our process and invited to meet an animal we then scheduled then every person currently living in the household full-time, will have to be present for the meet-and-greet, as well as your dogs. (With cats, the process varies.) During the meet-and-greet, you get to spend time with the pet and see if he or she is really what you hoped for. If we feel it's the right match in person then the adoption can be finalized. Please note that the final decision is made by us after meeting in person.

I’m a 1-year-old Staffordshire mix, 57 pounds of sweetness, good looks, and love just waiting to be shared. I’m a people-loving boy who enjoys walks, quality time with my humans, and making new friends!

I’m neutered, vaccinated, and ready to trade shelter life for the good life. All I’m missing is a family to call my own.

Shelby has not received a single application😥

Meet Shelby, a beautiful two year old calico girl who is still learning to feel safe around people. Most of the time she can be found quietly observing from her favorite spot and taking everything in around her. Every now and then, her playful side peeks through and she’ll come out to play.

She is making progress with human touch and does allow pets, even though she is still a little unsure at times. Shelby has a very gentle nature and is not aggressive at all. she simply needs patience as she continues building confidence and learning that people can be safe and loving. It’s very rewarding to see her slowly become more comfortable and curious.

Shelby feels very comfortable around other cats, and you can often find her snuggling up with her feline friends. Because of this, we think a home with a friendly resident cat to help guide and comfort her would be ideal.

Shelby will need a patient, understanding adopter who can give her the time and space she needs to blossom at her own pace. With kindness and consistency, we believe Shelby will continue coming out of her shell more and more.

Beauty AND brains, you say? We sure did! ✨🐾

✨ Introducing NOVA! ✨

At barely one year old, Nova completely impressed us from the moment she arrived at our rescue. There’s just something about this girl—you can’t help but be drawn to her! 💕

And while her stunning good looks are definitely hard to miss, Nova is so much more than a pretty face. She’s smart, playful, independent, and incredibly sweet. She loves entertaining herself at the park with her stuffies, but she’ll happily take a break from playtime to come over for some lovin’ and, of course, lots of kisses! 😘

At a perfect 41 pounds, Nova is a wonderful size and enjoys playing with other dogs. She came to us from the NYC shelter, and now she’s ready to leave her past behind and start the brand-new life she deserves. 🩷

If you’re looking for a beautiful, fun-loving girl with brains, personality, and plenty of love to give, Nova might just be your girl!

Meet Max! 🐾💙

Max is a sweet 3-year-old Husky mix weighing 45 pounds. He can be a little shy at first, but he’s a gentle, affectionate boy who loves to cuddle.

Max enjoys being outside, exploring the yard, and taking in the fresh air. He’s still getting comfortable walking on leash and is currently in a foster home with a cat. He also does well with other dogs! 🐶🐱

If you’re looking for a low-key, loving companion, Max just might be your guy.

He’s neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and ready for his forever home. ❤️
