Neighbors live on around Power Road and Shad Creek Road. Please see the notification below for Temporary street closures.
The affected dates are August 22nd and 23rd and August 29th and 30th. No work on Labor day weekend and then there will be closures on September 12th and 13th and September 19th and 20th
This is to allow a crane to come in to the school yard at PS 47 and replace the air conditioning unit that has been a problem since the school opened.
Principal Lorenz has done an outstanding job in documenting this and fighting to get the School Construction Authority to hold the contractor responsible. The contractor had argued for months that there was only minor adjustments that were needed. We all knew this was incorrect and the unit needed to be replaced.
Councilwoman Joann Ariola NYC Council District 32 Office has been extremely helpful in pushing this issue and we are glad to see we are finally getting the proper action taken, which is the entire replacement of the RTU unit on the roof which should solve the problem of air-conditioning and heating issues that the school has been experiencing.

Last night criminals hit a number of cars in Broad Channel on different blocks ( they then went to rockaway and proceeded to do the same thing ) then tonight there was an attempt by 3 young persons from out of town to steal some bikes from three children in Broad Channel. The civic association and Marty Feeney have been in contact with Joann Ariola NYC Council District 32 and the captain from the 100 precinct about this activity. In particular that these complaints are documented with reports taken . The captain is ensuring that reports will be taken regarding tonights incident.
For any type of criminal activity it is critical that folks who are affected file a report. These reports become the basis for our ability to get additional police coverage and presence. In some instances when cars get hit only a few folks file reports but it is helpful if everyone files a report. we appreciate the Joann Ariola NYC Council District 32 womans constant support and that of Captain Singh of the 100 pct
