Annual “Kathina” Ceremony and First Year Commemoration of Late Nayaka Thero
Annual Kathina Robe offering ceremony and the first-year commemoration of former chief incumbent priest, late Most Venerable Kurenegoda Piyatissa Nayaka Thero will be held on Oct 10th and 11th 2020, at New York Buddhist Vihara (NYBV).

The Program:
October 10th Saturday:
At 7.30 p.m., offering of Buddha Pooja and chanting of protective discourses (Seth Pirith). Only monks will participate for this event.

October 11th Sunday:
At 6.00 a.m. bringing of Katina robe to the Vihara, offering of Buddha Pooja and subsequent offering of Dana to monks.
From 10.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. offering of Buddha Pooja, offering of mid-day meals (Dana) to monks, transferring merits to late Nayaka Thero and offering of Katina Robe. (only two members of each family of sponsors may participate).
Special Message for Your Kind Attention:

Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to perform this year’s Katina robe offering ceremony without the participation of devotees adhering to the health guidelines issued by authorities. (Only a limited number of sponsoring families will participate to witness the offerings). NYBV deeply regrets about the inconveniences caused to devotees by not being able to participate in these events physically and for the benefit of everybody, these programs will be broadcasted live on the website (http://nybv.us), NYBV YouTube Channel and Facebook of NYBV.

නිව්යෝර්ක් බෞද්ධ විහාරීය 2020 වාර්ෂික කඨින චීවර පූජාමය පින්කම සහ නිව්යෝර්ක් බෞද්ධ විහාරාධිපතිව වැඩ විසු අපවත් වී වදාළ පරම පූජණීය රාජකීය පණ්ඩිත කුරුණෑගොඩ පියතිස්ස නාහිමිපාණන් වහන්සේගේ ප්‍රථම වර්ෂ ගුණානුස්මරණ පින්කම 2020 ඔක්තෝම්බර් 10 සහ 11 දෙදින නිව්යෝර්ක් බෞද්ධ විහාරයේදී පැවැත්වෙයි.

වැඩසටහන:

ඔක්තෝම්බර් 10 සෙනසුරාදා:
සවස 7:30 ට සම්බුද්ධ පූජාව සහ සෙත් පිරිත් දේශනය. ( භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලාගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් පමණක් සිදුවෙයි )

ඔක්තෝම්බර් 11 ඉරිදා:
උදෑසන 6:00 ට කඨින චීවරය වැඩමවීම, උදෑසන සම්බුද්ධ පූජාව, සහ හීල් දානය.
පෙ: ව: 10:30 සිට ප: ව: 2:00 දක්වා සම්බුද්ධ පූජාව, දහවල් දානය, නාහිමිපාණන් වහන්සේට පින් පැමිණවීම සහ කඨින චීවර පූජාව. (මෙම වැඩසටහන් සමඟ සම්බන්ධ විය හැක්කේ කඨින පින්කමෙහි දායකත්වය දරන පින්වතුන්ට පමණක් වන අතර එයද එක් පවුලකින් සමාජිකයින් දෙදෙනෙකු පමණක් බවද කරුණාවෙන් සලකන්න.)

New Year Blessings to Welcome 2019

The Most Ven. Kurunegoda Piyatissa Nayaka Maha Thero and the resident monks of the New York Buddhist Vihara wish a very peaceful, happy and a prosperous New Year

It has been decided to conduct an offering to the Twenty eight Buddhas (Atavisi Buddha Puja) on this occasion at 4.00 p.m. on January 1st 2019 at the Vihara.


All are kindly invited to participate.


There will be refreshments available after the blessing ceremony.
