Join QDEP and DND for our monthly penpal writing night! We will be writing letters to support, encourage, and show love to our members in ICE detention. We will be meeting Tuesday November 28 from 6-8 pm ET in our office at 308 W 46th St New York, New York 10036 (Second floor, buzzer “Lounge and Events”). We welcome you to help individuals in ICE detention feel supported, cared for, and heard as well as learn more about the campaign to end NYS’s collaboration with ICE. This evening of storytelling and performances will honor trans community members lost to transphobic violence and celebrate trans lives around us. Our observance of Transgender Day of Remembrance will center the joys, achievements, and contributions of trans and gender-expansive people to the fabric of our community and collective liberation movements.

The program will feature a panel discussion, inspirational affirmations by Black and Brown trans and nonbinary community leaders, and performances to pay tribute to those lost to anti-transgender violence.

QDEP stands in unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, and we condemn the history of violence perpetrated against Palestinians. We are deeply concerned about the humanitarian crisis and human rights abuses taking place throughout the region and condemn all forms of violence, including the loss of Palestinian and Israeli lives. We are calling for an immediate ceasefire, an end to the loss of civilian life, and an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian people and their land.

We strongly condemn the disproportionate use of force, collective punishment, and violations of international law that have been witnessed in Gaza and the West Bank. The loss of innocent lives, including children, is a tragedy that should move us all to seek solutions that promote coexistence and justice. To call for justice means to interrogate the countless violations and war crimes that Israel has committed against Palestinians that has led us to this moment in history. We condemn the decades of Israeli occupation, militarism, settler colonialism, and ethnic cleansing campaigns.

Furthermore, we call attention to the U.S. funding of the Israeli military state. We believe it is essential to call on the United States to cease all current and future military spending and foreign aid to Israel to fund their assault against the Palestinian people. Israel, with the support of the U.S has manufactured the largest open-air prison leaving internally displaced Palestinians with no options to resist or to evacuate safely. We are witnessing ethnic cleansing and the US government is giving Israel the green light. We call on the U.S and the international community to fund humanitarian aid and peacebuilding initiatives.

To be an abolitionist is to stand with Palestinian Liberation.
