Rose T. has been a longterm Idealist user, first searching the platform for volunteer opportunities to get involved in her community, then as a job seeker looking for nonprofit roles. Now, Rose posts on behalf of her own social-impact consultancy, the Volunteer Leadership Lab 🙌

"Several years ago, when I started researching how to volunteer abroad, I came across Idealist—I found a small organization run by a couple in Peru and had an amazing experience. I immediately gave my job at the bank notice. I told them, “I have to do something different with my life. I want to go to school and I want to work in the nonprofit sector and I really want to pursue some sort of career in leading volunteer programs.”"

Fast forward a few years, and Rose landed another gig using Idealist! At ENGin, she helped build and scale the organization's volunteer program to over 20,000 volunteers to engage more people in the organization's mission.

"I have learned so much in each one of these roles; even though they were all very different in their capacity and their mission. I knew the core value of each one of those positions was focused on volunteerism and service, and what that means for the community as a whole and the world as a whole. These experiences have further grounded me in what I think my life's mission is. I am very excited, motivated, and inspired to keep moving forward.”

Audree K. is a volunteer for Cancer Support Center, an organization that allows her to teach a Strength & Balance class in person. 💪

"I had been exploring volunteer opportunities on Idealist for quite some time, looking for something that would truly make use of my energy and experience in a meaningful way. When I came across the opportunity to teach Strength & Balance at the Cancer Support Community, it immediately felt like the right fit."

She's been passionate about getting to know more people undergoing cancer treatment since her grandson passed away of a brain tumor in 2020. And since most of Audree's professional experience is remote, joining an in-person volunteer opportunity is an exciting way for her to spend her time and support a cause she cares about.
