🚨 Beware: How Scammers Use “Innocent” Surveys, Polls & Quizzes to Steal Your Information

In today’s digital world, scammers have become experts at making dangerous traps look fun and harmless. One of their favorite tricks? Online surveys, polls, and quizzes.

You’ve probably seen them:
• “What’s your royal name? Enter your first pet’s name and the street you grew up on!”
• “Take this quick survey to win a free gift card!”
• “Vote in our poll and be entered to win a prize!”

These may seem like lighthearted activities, but in reality, they’re designed to collect valuable personal data—data that can be used for identity theft, account hacking, or targeted scams.

🔍 Why They Do It:
Fraudsters know that people often use personal information as passwords or security question answers. The “fun” questions in quizzes—like your mother’s maiden name, your first car, or your childhood best friend—are often the exact same questions banks and online accounts use for security verification.

⚠️ Common Red Flags:
• Being asked for personal details not related to the quiz topic.
• Promises of cash, prizes, or gift cards for completing a survey.
• Requests for your email, phone number, or home address before showing results.
• Links that take you to unfamiliar websites or pop-up forms.

âś… How to Protect Yourself:
1. Think before you click. If a quiz or poll asks for personal information, skip it.
2. Never share sensitive details like your birthdate, address, or anything you’ve used as a password or security answer.
3. Be cautious on social media. Even “just for fun” posts can be part of large-scale data harvesting schemes.
4. Verify the source. Only respond to surveys from trusted, official organizations.
5. Report suspicious activity to the platform where you saw it.

đź’ˇ Bottom Line:
If a survey, poll, or quiz is free to take, you might be the product. Your information is valuable—protect it like you protect your bank account.

Stay smart. Stay safe. Share this to warn your friends and family.
