The Central Brooklyn Martin Luther King Commission A Brooklyn-based 501(c)(3) organization promoting critical thinking about social justice through the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Central Brooklyn Martin Luther King Commission is a Brooklyn-based 501(c)(3) organization promoting critical thinking about social justice through the life and teachings of Rev. The Commission was founded in 1985 when Congressman Major R. Owens called together members of his Congressional District with the challenge to promote improved education and youth development in the spirit of peace and

nonviolence as lived, taught and exemplified by Dr. Martin Luther King. MLK Commission members were drawn from a cross-section of the community including parents, educators, youth advocates, citywide and community representatives and leaders in private industry. In 1993, the Commission embarked on another bold step and incorporated as a non-profit community based organization. During the last 31 years, the Commission has held monthly meetings and forums with an open door to parents and all others interested in education. It has operated a federally funded program for at-risk children; sponsored Congressional Awards students; supported the award winning Clara Barton Bill of Rights Debate Team; and participated in city and statewide campaigns to obtain greater funding for our schools. The Alice Spratley College Preparatory Project conducts writing and interview workshops for college-bound HS Seniors seeking scholarships. The Commission organizes an annual Essay, Poetry and Art Contest for students in grades 4 - 12 that culminates in a family-festive awards celebration on King's Birthday every year. The children receive cash awards, books, citations and MLK T-Shirts. More than 10,000 students have participated. More than $100,000 in cash awards has been distributed.

AUDIOKARADI PRESS CO. 4/5/26 *** Straight to 5th gear with rock gems from Citizen Smith, V.E.N.! and Chris Oledude: "Chris Oledude – THE CHOICE
Make way for the old with the old. Chris Oledude showcases why art forms pre-internet had some kind of character. A proud “boomer”, his music elevates you with a certain dose of dopamine that isn’t available en masse.
THE CHOICE is another brilliant song from his catalogue that might have more of a prog-rock feel, with the way it has been layered. A fan of several genres like funk, rock and pop, he brings a dramatic flair with this release. Can we shed ancient ideologies? Can we survive the inequalities? asks Chris. His music makes you think, not just blank out and stare into the distance. When his vocal patterns change, so does the rhythm mirror his movement.
You could weave yourself into the cesspool of slop the industries make now. Or you could listen to thought-provoking music that has a pulse in every small detail. The choice:"

Women’s History Is Human History! ‍ ‍ Every day, I am astounded by my own ignorance when it comes to the power and achievements of woman throughout human history. My song, IF A WOMAN HAD MADE THE WORLD, asks that core question … We will not surrender our freedoms to fascists! We will not all
