Ladies and Gents!! It’s Feel It On The First!!
⏰ It’s time to perform those self examinations!
Early detection saves lives. Look for any sudden changes to your breasts/chest. Ni**le discharge, lumps or dimpling of the skin, discoloration, rashes, etc.

Report your findings to a doctor for a second opinion. Don’t wait or allow the fear of the unknown keep you away from going to seek help.

🩷 That’s right ladies and gents.. it’s time ⏰ to do your self examination of your breasts, chest or foobs for any changes.
🩷 Early detection is the best detection!

📣April is also National Minority Health Month and National Cancer Control Month. So let’s do our part in shining the light on the importance of addressing health disparities amongst minorities and breast cancer.

📣📣Did you know that there are approximately 10 million people in the United States that have lymphedema?
🩷About 20% of that number are breast cancer survivors and about 10% of that number are Melanoma survivors.

Well you're probably wondering what is lymphedema. Lymphedema is caused due to a blockage in the lymphatic system. This can be due to obesity, radiation, surgery and certain medications. When lymphedema is present one or more limbs will become swollen or even in your midsection.
🦋🦋March is Lymphedema Awareness Month. Pink DIVAS United is hosting an event called "Flow Forward: Thriving With Lymphedema" on March 27th from 6pm-7:30pm.
📣This event will be educational and empowering for those living with lymphedema or caring for someone with it.

🧚‍♂️ Lymphedema is a chronic condition that causes swelling in the body's tissues due to a buildup of lymph fluid.
🧚‍♂️Causes:
1. Lymphatic System Damage:
Damage to the lymphatic system, such as from surgery, removal of lymph nodes, radiation therapy, or infection, can disrupt the flow of lymph fluid
2. Congenital malformations:
Some people are born with an abnormal lymphatic system, which can cause lymphedema
3. Obesity:
Excessive weight gain can put pressure on the lymphatic system and impair its function.

Come Join us on March 27th from 6pm-8pm as we continue to celebrate Lymphedema Awareness Month with our in person event "Flow Forward: Thriving With Lymphedema".
This event with inspire and encourage those living with lymphedema or recently diagnosed with lymphedema to thrive. We excited to have Jocelyn Blatchley the Medical Advisor for JOBST/Essity which is a leading compression garment company educate us on lymphedema. We will also have a local lymphedema/scar therapist Ellen Poage share some tips and our founder Astrid Shover talk about some nutritional foods that will help you thrive with lymphedema.
The cost is only $10 which includes refreshments, swag bags and more!
