Meet Ellie Mae!

Sometimes, saying goodbye is one of the hardest acts of love. Ellie Mae came to us after her beloved owner became ill and was no longer able to give her the care she deserves. He was heartbroken to make the decision, but knew finding her a new home was the best thing for his girl. Now, we’re determined to make sure Ellie Mae’s next chapter is everything she deserves.

At 9 years old and 80 pounds, Ellie Mae is a beautiful Bloodhound mix with a heart as big as her paws. And if you’re looking for a dog who has mastered the art of taking it easy, you’ve found her! She’s an incredibly easygoing, calm, and laid-back girl who is perfectly happy lounging around and enjoying the good life.

But don’t let her couch-potato status fool you—mention the word WALK and suddenly Ellie Mae is ready to clock in! She loves getting outside, walks beautifully on leash, and is always happy to hop in the car for a ride. She’s also house trained, travels well, and knows “come.”

Ellie Mae enjoys being pet and will happily hang out with her people, though she’s not necessarily demanding constant cuddles. She’s not particularly interested in toys and can be a little selective about her treats, but honestly, who needs toys when you have walks and a comfy place to nap?

She’s wonderful with dogs, adults, men, women, and elderly people, and her foster describes her as having no aggression and no concerning behaviors. She doesn’t resource guard and is generally a very chill girl. Cats are currently untested. She does bark at the vacuum cleaner and was startled by a school bus, but otherwise she’s pretty unfazed by the world around her.

Ellie Mae isn’t looking for a complicated life. She just wants a comfortable home, some good walks, a soft place to land, and people who will love her for the rest of her life. After losing the home she knew through absolutely no fault of her own, she deserves to know that her next home will be forever.

Hickory may only be 3 months old and about 15 pounds, but this adorable Beagle/Terrier mix already has the whole puppy thing figured out: play hard, cuddle harder! And with those black-and-white markings and those floppy ears, we can’t help but get some serious Snoopy vibes from this little guy!

This sweet boy can be a little shy when he first meets you, but it doesn’t take long for him to warm up. Once he does, get ready for a puppy who wants to be right by your side. Hickory loves cuddling, getting his ears rubbed, playing with his toys, and soaking up attention from his people.

He is also a fantastic little playmate! Hickory loves playing with other dogs and has been wonderful with kids. In fact, his foster says he doesn’t jump all over them—which is pretty impressive for a puppy! He is friendly with people of all ages.

Hickory is energetic and playful, but he’s also been described as one of the easiest puppies his foster has ever had. He’s house trained AND puppy-pad trained, travels well, rarely barks, and hasn’t shown any unwanted behaviors or resource guarding. He’s even starting to work on his first command: sit!

He’s still too young for leash walks, and he’s not crate trained yet, so his forever family will get to help him continue learning all those important puppy skills.
But really, what more could you ask for? A sweet face, adorable black-and-white markings, a playful personality, and a serious love of cuddles. Basically, a little Snoopy in the making!

Hickory is ready to find a family who will give him all the love, adventures, playtime, and ear scratches a growing puppy could want. And if he happens to fall asleep cuddled up next to you afterward… well, that’s just a bonus.

Could Hickory be your new best friend? Apply to meet him!

Willow is a 1-year-old, 13-pound Chihuahua mix with the cutest little face, the sweetest personality, and the most adorable way of getting around—you might say she’s part puppy, part ballerina!

This petite girl is a little shy when she first meets you, but once she realizes you’re her person, she starts to blossom. She loves attention and will happily tuck her head down or back herself up when she realizes pets are coming. And if you get down on the floor or stretch out for a little downtime, don’t be surprised if Willow comes over and curls right up beside you.

When it’s time to go outside, Willow’s whole personality comes alive! She hops, skips, and jumps with excitement and loves going for walks. She’s a great little walking companion and has the perfect amount of energy—happy to go for an adventure when it’s time, but perfectly content to relax when it’s not.

Willow is also a wonderful traveler, happily curling up in the car or her crate. She’s friendly with other dogs and can coexist with them comfortably, although she’s still figuring out exactly how to play with her canine roommates. Cats are currently unknown.

She’s still learning all the fun things about being a dog, including toys and treats! She’s just beginning to discover that balls and toys are pretty fun, and she’s learning that treats are, in fact, something worth getting excited about.

Willow is house trained, crate trained, walks well on leash, and rarely barks. She does have a little mischievous streak—if left alone, she may decide that shoes, purses, or random things within reach look like interesting toys. Her foster calls her a prancer, and honestly, once you see her standing on her back legs and bouncing around with excitement, you’ll understand exactly why.

She’s a gentle, sweet girl who is still learning to trust and build relationships, but she’s clearly very interested in being loved. Give her a little patience, some affection, and a cozy spot beside you, and Willow will happily show you what a special little girl she is.

As pretty as the plant, Hibiscus the puppy dog may not have a floral aroma, but she’s is as loving, as sweet, and as beautiful as they come! This 10-week old, 15-pound Beagle mix is the ultimate cuddle-bug, and she will steal your heart the second you lay eyes on her.

Hibiscus loves everyone and everything. Adults, kids, dogs, cats, toys, belly rubs, naps, you name it. Anything with a squeaker, Hibiscus finds utterly fascinating. She also loves running around in the yard. As for leash walks, she is still learning the ropes and making fantastic progress. Day by day, one paw in front of the other! Atta girl!

Sharp as a tack, Hibiscus is already housebroken, pad-trained, and crate-trained. She responds to the command sit, and she’s well-behaved in a car. The sky’s the limit with this ‘lil Einstein! Of course, Hibiscus is still very young, but she listens attentively, she understands what no means, and she is eager to learn more.

Hibiscus prefers being near her humans than being in her crate, but she aims to please and tries to make her people proud. Her favorite resting spot is right next to you on the couch, whenever she’s allowed. She is overwhelmingly affectionate and loves to be touched anywhere you care to pet her.

Hibiscus is a typical upbeat, happy, playful doggy with lots of puppy energy, but she also takes advantage of much-appreciated down time in order to rest and recharge her battery. This cutie-pie is a real gem who would fit into almost any type of lively, loving home.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? 🐾 — PART 3

A little overdue, but we couldn’t let another group of our 42 Dachshunds go without sharing some very important updates.

When these dogs came to us in May from a home with 60+ Dachshunds, we couldn’t know exactly what their futures would look like. What we did know was that they deserved the chance to find out.

And now, look at them.

Willow & Handsome are thriving in Texas. Handsome was a love bug from day one, while Willow needed a little more time to come out of her shell. Two months later, she’s made it very clear who her favorite person is—and both dogs are doing amazing.

Mabel, formerly Marigold, was the very first of the 42 to officially be adopted. Her tail is always wagging, she’s handing out kisses to everyone, and she’s learning the ropes of city life from her big sister, Edie. Her confidence grows every day.

Sooty is enjoying the important things in life: pup ice cream, her sister, and plenty of snuggles.

And Gus & Pablo, formerly Van Gogh & Picasso, have discovered toys, cuddling, sleeping on Mom every night, and the fine art of begging for cheese from their new Doxie sister, Maisey.

Six more happy endings. Six more reminders of just how much can change when a dog finally gets the chance to be loved.

They came to us as one of 42.
Now they’re someone’s everything.

And there are still more stories to tell.

If there were an award for Best Cuddle Buddy, Kentucky would like to formally submit his application.

Kentucky is a 4-year-old, 14-pound Chihuahua with the sweetest little personality and one very important mission in life: being comfy.

This handsome boy is a total Cuddle Master. He absolutely loves being snuggled and getting attention, but he isn’t a velcro dog. If you need to leave the room, Kentucky is perfectly happy to stay right where he is, enjoying his comfy spot until you return. Because why get up when you’re already comfortable?

He’s a wonderfully quiet and easygoing guy. His foster says you can sometimes forget he’s even there! He rarely barks, with the occasional little woof if he hears a strange sound. He’s also happy to entertain you with his adorable bunny hops when food is involved—apparently treats are worth getting a little air time.

Kentucky loves his walks and enjoys being outside, although he’s still working on his leash skills. He doesn’t pull, but he tends to walk behind his person and zigzag a bit. He’s house trained, crate trained, and sleeps beautifully in his crate when his people leave the house. He’s also comfortable around other dogs and has done well with his foster’s resident dog and kitten without showing any resource guarding.

He may take a day or two to warm up when he’s nervous, especially when it comes to accepting treats, but once Kentucky settles in, he is ALL about the snacks.

And can we talk about his face?! Those little curly piggy tail and his incredible smile that practically stretches from ear to ear make him impossible not to love.

Kentucky is a gentle, chill, affectionate little guy who doesn’t ask for much—just a cozy spot, some walks, plenty of love, and a human who appreciates a professional-level snuggler.

Basically, he’s the goodest boy. And he’s ready to find his forever person.

If you would like to adopt Kentucky, comment ADOPT and we’ll send you an application.

Oh my, what have we here? Meet Triillium, a 7-year old, 57-pound Birder Collie/Australian Shepherd mix with perky ears, a long pink tongue, and the gentlest eyes you’ve ever seen!

Trillium is mild-mannered, friendly toward humans, polite around other dogs and cats, not fussy when it comes to food, and fully housebroken. Sounds like a dream come true, ehh?

A big fan of walks, Trillium seems to really enjoy the outdoors. She likes to sniff the grass, greet people and pups along the way, and is excellent on a leash. If Trillium has access to a fenced yard, she will happily explore the entire area, while breathing in the fresh air and taking in the many interesting aromas.

When it comes to cuddles, Trillium has a doctorate degree. She will sit on your lap, offer you her belly to rub, and then give you some kisses as a reward. You can pet her from stem to stern, and she’ll never grow tired of being caressed. And her fur is so soft and fluffy, it’s impossible to stop touching her!

Trillium is very easy-going and shares her possessions, toys, and treats like a champ. She’s the type of dog you can take on an outing and never have to worry about how she behaves. Trillium’s breed is generally known to be quite active, but so far, Trillium appears to be a medium to low energy lady, who is as content taking a robust stroll outside as she is hanging out at home, being lazy and mellow. Loving, sweet, flexible, and accommodating, this beautiful creature is a pleasure in every sense of the word!!!

🚨 NEXT TRANSPORT: SATURDAY, 10/3! 🚨

The countdown is on! 🐾🍎 We have some amazing pups hoping to hitch a ride to the Big Apple, but they need one very important thing first…

A place to land! 🏡

We’re looking for fosters and foster-to-adopt homes who can open their hearts (and homes!) to one of these deserving pups.

Foster: Give a dog a safe, loving place to decompress and get settled while they wait for their forever family.

Foster-to-Adopt: Not sure if you’re ready to commit right away? Foster-to-adopt gives you the opportunity to bring a pup home, get to know them, and see if they’re the right fit for your family.

These pups are ready for their next chapter. All they need is someone willing to say, “I’ve got you.”

🍎 Next Transport: Saturday, October 3rd

🏡 Fosters & Foster-to-Adopt Homes Needed!

Could you be the reason one of these pups gets to make it to New York?
