It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Asher’s passing on February 22, 2026, in Medellín, Colombia, after a courageous battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was 62.
Asher leaves an extraordinary and enduring legacy as a pioneering force in new media art, transdisciplinary collaboration, and creative technology, most notably through his visionary leadership as Artistic Director of Hyphen Hub.
Among the many artists and curators he supported and collaborated with were Amir Shpilman, Anouk Wipprecht, Barbara London, Billy Clark, Carla Gannis, Carol Sabbadini, Christiane Paul, Claudex, Claudia Hart, Daniel Neumann, Erwin Redl, Felipe Londoño, Fito Segrera, Jakob Kudsk Steensen, Janet Biggs, Jason Barnes, Juan Cortés & Attractor, Kurt Hentschlaeger, Leo Castañeda, Lisa Park, Marco Donnarumma, Marina Rosenfeld, Mattia Casalegno, Merche Blasco, Moon Ribas, MSHR, Neil Harbisson, Paula Hayes, Phill Niblock, Phillip Stearns, Richard Garet, Sibyl Kempson, Tiffany Trenda, Valentino Caricala, Yapci Ramos, and many others whose work he championed with generosity and vision.
