TONIGHT and TOMORROW! 🎻 Mozart’s most famous violin sonata in B-flat, K 454 was written for the Italian virtuosa, Regina Strinasacchi, who famously received the part only the night before the performance. Leopold Mozart said of her: “Her whole heart and soul is in the melody she delivers, and her power and beauty of tone are equally remarkable. I believe, as a rule, that a woman of genius plays with more expression than a man.” Enrico Gatti, violin and Gwendolyn Toth, fortepiano play the Sonata in B-flat and other chamber works by Mozart.

Join ARTEK for a rare performance of Lully's 'Le Carnaval Mascarade!'

Friday, January 23 at 7:00 pm
Saturday, January 24 at 7:00 pm

Lully’s comédie-ballet was first performed in 1675 at the Academie Royale de Musique, created from favorite scenes from his earlier comedies. The libretto lampoons doctors, teachers, and lawyers, and includes the famous Marche pour la cérémonie des Turcs from Molière’s Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme. Arias in French, Italian, and Spanish, and delightful dance music. Soloists include Christina Kay, soprano; Sarah Frei, soprano; Richard Pittsinger, haute-contre; Jonathan Woody, bass-baritone; and Peter Becker, bass, with ARTEK’s large French baroque orchestra led by Enrico Gatti – with over a dozen of our past Artist Fellows returning to join us.
