The Sue Meigs Award is presented to an author who exemplifies empathy, love, and care for children. Like Sue Meigs, the Sue Meigs Children’s Champion uses the power of stories to protect, defend, and inspire a child to be their truest self. We are so proud to have presented this award to author Kate Messner, whose work and advocacy have so benefitted children, through World Read Aloud Day and now through The Memory Keeper’s Project. Thank you Kate for all the work you do, and thank you to Sue Meigs, who we miss deeply and for whom we created this special honor.

Behind every magical LitClub and imaginative LitKid, there is a story, and behind every story is an author! We couldn’t be more thankful to have award-winning authors Kate Messner, Tracey Baptiste, Olugbemisola Rhuday-Perkovich, and Karina Yan Glaser celebrate LitWorld in the Springtime with us, where we presented them with custom Memory Keeper Honoree Medallions. Their generous gift of time and knowledge helped shape our Memory Keepers Project curriculum, which we’ve officially launched in nine countries! Many thanks to these authors, and more details on the MKP to come!
