As we welcome Rosh Hashanah, we wish our wounded soldiers, their families, and our entire Dror community a year of recovery, strength, and new beginnings.

Thank you to our friends and supporters who make it possible for us to continue standing beside Israel’s wounded soldiers throughout their rehabilitation.

May the year ahead bring healing, hope, peace, and brighter days for us all.

After October 7, leaving the house became difficult.

As a combat soldier and battalion medic, he spent that day fighting under fire and treating wounded soldiers at Urim base. He continued fighting for several more months before beginning his rehabilitation.

Back home, there were days when even getting out of the house felt like a challenge.

Then he started riding.

The bike gave him a reason to get outside and something to work toward. Slowly, he began pushing himself further.

Today, he is training for a triathlon.

For someone who once struggled to leave the house, this is about so much more than a finish line. It is about showing up, rebuilding confidence, finding strength again, and setting new goals for himself.

This is what your support makes possible.

Music has always been a big part of his life. 🎶

Two weeks before finishing his combat training, he was wounded in a UAV attack that killed three soldiers sitting beside him.

During his recovery, he told us how hard it has been to find joy in the things he once did. Music has been different. It gives him a sense of calm and a chance to just enjoy the moment.

He already played guitar, but during his recovery, he wanted to learn the oud too.

When you hear him playing the oud, you’re hearing much more than music.

You’re hearing something that brings him peace, makes him smile, and gives him something to look forward to. 💙

This bread symbolizes: healing, sustenance, survival, hope, and love.

A soldier suffering from PTSD came to us last month, after reaching out to other organizations that had turned him away because wasn’t wounded in the “regular” way - a soldier in his unit committed su***de. He was recognized as over 50% disabled by the Ministry of Defense. His request? a commercial oven so that he could bake! 🥖 He chose baking because it nurtures his soul, and he can also sell the breads and make an income from it! He now has the motivation to get up in the morning and fulfill orders! In the first few days of his new oven, he sold 20 breads in ONE day!!!!

This story just shows that one act, or one thing can change someone’s life! 💙🙏. Thank you to all the donors that made this possible.

Meet U*i: He was wounded in 1997 by Hezbollah bombardments of missile and mortar fire on his post, while serving as a medic treating wounded soldiers. Two soldiers were killed in the attack, one of them dying in U*i’s arms.

In 2017, the Dror for the Wounded Foundation helped U*i with tuition to the Hilton Institute of Technology, not only as a form of education but as a form of healing. ❤️‍🩹

U*i has created incredible artworks expressing his pain and hope from the attack in 1997.

Today, U*i still creates and inspires with his art, and the Dror Foundation has subsidized his studio so he can continue to nurture his soul, and those around him with his talent.

Thank you. 🙏 Our heroes sacrificed blood, sweat, tears, months away from home, and left their jobs and their lives to protect our tiny and beautiful country. Thousands were wounded, and will wear their scars for life. Make sure to be kind and patient with them, stand by their side, and never leave them behind! Their road to recovery and rehabilitation is a battle they will continue to fight, as the rest of the country goes back to their routine.
And 917 paid the ultimate price, and we are forever grateful. We will not forget them. 💔🙏

Incredible donors gave us the honor to hand out these comforting squish-mallows to our wounded heroes, sometimes people think it’s funny to give a kids toy to combat soldiers, but there is nothing like a moment to return to being a silly kid to being a smile to our heroes faces. 💙
