New York’s Balletcollective debuted this week at Trinity Square (Oct. 28-Nov. 1). Inspired by a painting by Mi’kmaq artist and NSCAD University professor Jordan Bennett, the collaborative dance featured music by brass quartet The Westerlies and performed by dancers from the New York City Ballet.

CCAR congratulates Rebecca Belmore, winner of the 2024 Audain Prize.

Rebecca Belmore is a multidisciplinary artist and member of the Lac Seul First Nation on traditional Anishinaabe territories in Northwestern Ontario. Her performative practice focuses on issues of place and identity while confronting contemporary challenges faced by Indigenous peoples throughout North America.

CCAR congratulates the 14th Glenn Gould Prize Laureate Maestro Gustavo Dudamel.

Consul General of Canada in New York Tom Clark and Glenn Gould Foundation Executive Director Brian Levine presented the award onstage during a concert at Carnegie Hall on August 2. Two young artists selected by Maestro Dudamel, Andrés David Ascanio Abreu and Enluis Montes Olivar, received the shared Protégé Prize.

The biennial prize reflects the unique and innovative spirit of Glenn Gould. Previous Laureates include Yo-Yo Ma, Jessye Norman, Leonard Cohen, Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Alanis Obomsawin, Philip Glass, Robert Lepage, and Oscar Peterson.
