Our friends need our help! šŸ’„ Help Save the Last Q***r Bookstore in Manhattan! Reposted •

Hello, friends. We’re coming to you today to ask for your help to do something huge. (This is NOT an April Fools joke.)

The Bureau of General Services—Q***r Division, located in the LGBT Center in the West Village, is the only q***r bookstore in Manhattan dedicated to trans and q***r books and events. For 13 years, founders Donnie and Greg have built a big community around q***r art, literature, performance, and culture.

In May, Donnie and Greg are leaving New York. If someone does not take over the Bureau, it will close, and Manhattan will no longer have a q***r bookstore.

ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„ We cannot let that happen. We need our q***r spaces, especially now, when q***r literature is under extreme censorship and trans people are being targeted by legislation that threatens their human rights,

🌈 Hive Mind Books has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $50,000 by June 1 to acquire the Bureau and keep it open. As part of this endeavour, we would also re-open the cafe on the first floor of the Center, which has been vacant for more than a year, and revive that community space.

šŸ’„ We need your help to do this! Head to the link in our bio to learn more and to make a donation. And help us spread the word!

Over the coming weeks, we’ll share more about the Bureau’s history and Hive Mind Books’s plans to grow and sustain this q***r cultural hub.

ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„ šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ Let’s keep q***r literature alive and thriving in New York City!

THANK YOU!

Charlie Nieland 's song "Post-Human World" performed at Howl Happening for our show celebrating GUILT SPORT by Chris Rael.

Post-Human World by Charlie Nieland

A bully is a thing - That you can choose to be
Reaching for the ring - That only you can see

Make us feel the same
Afraid of being seen
A symphony of blame
A little weak machine - a machine

They see all our lives
And sing the harvest in
They sharpened every knife
And pulled out every pin - every pin

The Post Human World begins
Reaching in - Through the skin
Celebrate the cyber-thief
Underneath - Keep it brief
And terror turns into lifelong belief

To make us small is their delight
But they seem to get confused
When we stand and fight
And when we refuse

But how do we refuse - We have so much to lose
So do we descend - Into revenge?

The Post Human World begins
Reaching in - Through the skin
Terror turns into belief
Underneath - Your two feet

But they were there in
Tulsa and in Selma and in Gaza
And on Wounded Knee
So are you and me
Let’s put our bodies in the way
So we can be free
