Apne Aap Women Worldwide

Apne Aap Women Worldwide End s*x trafficking with Apne Aap. No woman or child should be bought or sold. https://twitter.com/apneaap

We are a grassroots Indian organization working to empower women and girls to resist and end s*x trafficking. We help communities of survivors and those at-risk to access education, healthcare, job training, and legal empowerment -- breaking the cycle of poverty and discrimination that forces women into prostitution.

Localized education centers break down generations of barriers. Last year, nearly 150 children in India's red-light areas were enrolled at our education centers, finding a safe space to learn and thrive.

Help us open these doors to more children in 2026. Visit apneaap.org/donate today.

A big congratulations to Demi Moore's film "Groundswell" for winning the Golden Globe Prize for Documentary at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, highlighting the power of regenerative agriculture to create stronger, more climate-friendly communities.

Over the years, Moore has played an instrumental role in anti-trafficking efforts, including presenting Ruchira Gupta at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2010 and appearing in the film “Love Sonia,” which brought global attention to human trafficking in Mumbai.

In “Groundswell,” Moore now brings attention to Rahul Dubey's R Coffee farm, which we were proud to partner with this year to help provide jobs for women in one of Colombia’s regions with the highest trafficking rates.

There, women help produce the coffee beans used in these coffee packets. It’s through community-led farming initiatives like this that women are building economic freedom while helping create safer, more sustainable futures. ☕️🌱

Today, Ruchira Gupta spoke to students at Harlem Village Academies about the importance of empathy and storytelling as a tool for activism.

What began as a quiet listening space quickly turned into an engaged conversation as she read excerpts from “The Freedom Seeker,” centered on Simi’s experience of child migration and the challenges she faces along the way.

Students reflected on what it means to show empathy to one another in classrooms, and on the role stories can play in speaking out against injustice. The discussion opened into thoughtful questions and shared reflections on hope and resilience.

Thank you to Harlem Village Academies for a meaningful visit.

This week at the Apne Aap center: exploring nature. 💚

In safe, supportive spaces, we’re helping children in India’s red-light areas spend time outdoors and experience the simple moments of childhood that are often out of reach.

Moments of joy, belonging, and safety that every child deserves.

Your support is what keeps these spaces alive. Give today at apneaap.org/donate.

On , we’re reminded that every woman and girl deserves a future free from trafficking.

A community with equal opportunities, free access to education, and safety from gender-based violence and exploitation. At our Apne Aap centers, this future takes shape every day through solidarity, safety, and learning.

For women and girls in India’s red-light areas, time is urgent. Every new opportunity can change a life.

Vocational training offers more than skills. It offers a way out of cycles of exploitation and a chance to imagine a different future. Sewing classes and other skill-building programs help create those first steps toward possibility.

When you donate, you’re helping ensure that these classes continue for women and girls.

This , we are thinking of mothers in our communities who fought to create different futures for their children. Mothers who survived exploitation, separation, debt, and uncertainty, yet still found ways to rebuild their lives.

These photos honor women who turned survival into strength, continue to improve their communities, and remind us what resilience looks like every day.

Today, a gift to Apne Aap supports mothers working to keep their children safe, in school, and able to build independent futures.

Self-expression can be a powerful form of healing. 💚

This week, girls at our centers created art collages, helping them process emotions as they navigate limiting gender expectations and the cycles of exploitation within their communities. These moments of creativity give them the opportunity to reconnect with their voice and build confidence for their futures.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded of the importance of safe spaces and creative expression in emotional well-being.

“Image-based abuse is not an emerging issue. It is a current crisis every day.”

Jerome Elam, survivor leader and CEO of Trafficking in America Task Force, shares why image-based abuse remains a critical child protection issue and how it is deeply connected to modern-day systems of exploitation.

As we move from April into May, the urgency of child abuse prevention remains. Survivors deserve removal, accountability from platforms, and accessible paths to justice.
