Improve patient quality of life and prevent avoidable crises for patients with serious illness through expert management of common symptoms. Uncontrolled symptoms lead to preventable suffering and crises that often result in ED visits and hospitalizations for patients and their families. CAPC’s symptom management unit covers techniques for assessing and managing common sources of distress, including nausea, constipation, dyspnea, depression, and anxiety. Pain is a much-feared side effect of many serious illnesses, but is manageable with proper training.

Join us for this monthly small-group consulting call to ask questions and discuss health disparities that exist in the care of people living with serious illness—specifically, palliative care. This includes talking through effective strategies to increase self-awareness in contributing to implicit bias, normalizing difficult conversations with team members, and sharing ways to create a culture of transparency and accountability within our organization(s).

This Virtual Office Hours session will be hosted by a member of CAPC's Health Equity team and an additional faculty member.

The Palliative Care Program Inventory is an ongoing national initiative to build the field’s understanding of where and how specialty palliative care programs are operating in both hospital and community settings, and where gaps in access remain.

The Program Inventory data set will help create a more complete picture of palliative care services nationwide, support research and advocacy efforts, advance understanding of how palliative care is delivered across care settings, and create national comparison reports of program structure and other insights that benefit the field.
