These names and many others remind us that there is so much more work to be done to dismantle the racist structures that do not accord equal opportunity and access to all regardless of the color of your skin or how you identify.
Our family sits at the intersection of being Black and LGBTQ+ in America. We have both benefitted from access to quality education and believe it is a powerful tool to facilitate the dismantling of racism in this country.
It is with this belief and the power of who we are and what our family represents that we are proud and honored to announce the Alvin O. McCray and Jason M. Rudman Community College Named Scholarship.
In partnership with Point Foundation, our commitment of $25,000 will provide three scholarships for the 2021-22 academic year supporting LGBTQ+ undergraduate students of color pursuing a degree in criminal justice, social justice, and/or public policy. At least one of the scholarship recipients will identify as transgender.
This is the beginning of our own ongoing commitment in creating tomorrow’s leaders who share our desire to see a world that is more just, more equal, and more accessible.
We would love for you all to be a part of it. Here’s how:
Donate – consider a tax-deductible contribution. For every $8,000 raised beyond our initial contribution, an additional scholarship will be awarded.
Amplify -- Share this opportunity on your social networks to both help us by connecting potential scholars to this opportunity and to extend the power of Point Foundation’s work and our partnership with them.
