Teacher’s Choice, a City Council program initiated by the UFT more than 25 years ago, provides eligible educators with reimbursement for classroom and school supplies they choose to support their students.
💰 This year’s allotments:
🍎 Teachers — $220
🗣️ School Counselors — $95
🤝 Social Workers & Psychologists — $95
📋 Teachers Assigned — $95
🩺 Occupational & Physical Therapists — $80
🏥 School Nurses — $80
🔬 Lab Specialists — $70
✏️ Paraprofessionals — $55
📁 School Secretaries — $50
Teacher’s Choice funds may be used for eligible purchases including classroom supplies, library books and magazines, musical instruments, science materials, athletic supplies and more.
📅 Purchasing Period:
August 1, 2026 – January 8, 2027
The UFT continues to advocate each year for Teacher’s Choice funding in the city budget. This year, the program received the same overall level of funding as last year. With nearly 4,000 additional new educators hired this fall, the individual allotments changed slightly.
