🔵 Request for proposals: Support the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO in developing an introductory e-learning course on the Applications of Emerging Technologies in Ocean Science and Management.

The integration of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning into ocean science, services, and management is advancing rapidly. However, many countries lack the human and institutional capacity to engage effectively with these technologies and to identify and manage the risks they pose.

Within the framework of the Ocean Decade, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO is inviting proposals to develop a self-paced online course aimed at ocean practitioners, scientists, and policy makers to:

✅ Strengthen participants' understanding of emerging technologies and their potential applications across different ocean science and management fields.
✅ Present approaches to assess such tools, the opportunities and limitations of their use, risk identification and management, and targeted applications grounded in the most up-to-date ocean knowledge and science.

Contribute to advancing the use of innovative and emerging technologies to support ocean science, management, and decision-making.

Exciting news for future coastal leaders: NOAA Digital Coast
is thrilled to announce applications for the 2027–2029 Margaret A. Davidson Graduate Fellowship will open this fall!

This two-year fellowship places graduate students at one of the 30 National Estuarine Research Reserves across the country. Fellows conduct field-based research to tackle key coastal management challenges while gaining professional development, mentorship and community engagement experience.
