This Mother’s Day, let’s remember that honoring motherhood means keeping families together. https://linktr.ee/know.your.rights.cards

In 2022, Jean Mupeta and his Congolese family were resettled by the Ethiopian Community Development Council affiliate AJAPO (Acculturation for Justice, Access & Peace Outreach), where Jean quickly adapted to his new environment. He joined the school soccer team and excelled as a starting striker, showcasing his talent and earning spots in various leagues and weekend tournaments. His impressive performance on the field helped him integrate into the community and inspired local supporters to organize a fundraiser to assist his family with rent expenses.

As a Refugee Congress Delegate for Washington state, Tshishiku Henry leverages his expertise and lived experience to advocate for more welcoming policies and programs in his community as well as at the national level. “I’m working each and every day to speak for the voiceless. And I feel so good when I meet with elected officials and tell them the side of the story [about refugees] that they never knew,” he
said.

Meet Kamila, a talented cook from Afghanistan who resettled in Brattleboro, Vermont, after fleeing the Taliban. With support from the Multicultural Community Center of the Ethiopian Community Development Council, she launched a pop-up eatery to share Afghan delicacies with her new neighbors. Now operating as Kamila’s Kitchen Vermont, she not only enriches the local culture but also embodies the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit of refugees.

Episcopal Migration Ministries is more than a resettlement agency—it’s a ministry of welcome, grounded in faith and built on love.

“This work is about hope. It’s about community. And it’s about showing up—together.”

Watch now and be part of the welcome.
