On April 6, 1865, over 350 Barbadians sailed on the CORA ship and landed in Liberia on May 10, 1865. They would settle in Crozerville, Bensenville, and other places. Others went on to neighboring Sierra Leone and other African countries.

Today, the descendant of John Prince Porte, who is Ambassador Witherspoon is the first in his family to return to Barbados in 156 years. He met with the Prime Minister of Barbados and other cabinet members.
