Remembering one of our musical legends today, Ustad Sabri Khan, born in Uttar Pradesh, India. Today marks his memorial anniversary. Ustad Sabri Khan is one of several historically significant musicians who contributed to the development of classical Indian music in the United States and India. His son renowned Ustad Kamal Sabri, also follows in his footsteps, recently performing at City College of New York alongside other global Indian diaspora artists with classical music upbringing. He will be performing in Soho come December 4th with first time electronic collaboration. The exhibit Splendor of Silk & Beyond, located at City College of New York in collaboration with International Museum of The Saree continues to showcase until December 11th, 2024 in the Cohen Gallery & Archives, NAC Building from 9 to 5 PM, weekdays and features fashionable apparels and/or accessories of Ustad Kamal Sabri, Pt. Anup Jalota, Pt. Ravi Shankar, Terry Gajraj of Guyana, Bollywood star, Rahul Roy, Armel Leslie, Kripa Prasad, leaders of Gopio International community leader, SACSS, Sri Swaminarayan Baps Temple, Mithila Center, diplomatic, judicial and professional community from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, South Africa, Zambia, South America ( Suriname, Guyana) and the Caribbean ( Trinidad & more). Japanese kimonos, dolls and other historically significant collections of City College of New York are also on display in this exhibit.
