Continuing the Example

On February 13, 2012, the world lost a very influential person, who not only was an icon in her community; but was able to touch the lives of all who came in contact with her. Founded in 2012, the Carrie Bell Banks Foundation (US501c(3) serves to memorialize the diligent work and commitment of the Helps Ministry exhibited by our Late Mother, Friend ,Pastor and Philanthropist, Rev.Carrie Bell Banks. Her living and testament motto was: “If I can just help somebody along the way!” The Bell Scholarship was established to commemorate the many gifts the late Carrie Banks provided to our community. It will be given to a graduating high school senior from Warrenton, North Carolina, who gives back to their community and goes above and beyond academically. Your donations toward this scholarship will be greatly appreciated!

The second oldest of nine children, Carrie Bell Banks was born November 11, 1936 in Macon, NC to the late Willie and Winnie Taylor. No stranger to hard work, she dedicated approximately 28 years of service to Mariam Boyd Elementary School. During her tenure, she received the Principal’s Award for her dedicated service to the school, from then principal Rosiland Gilliam.

Carrie Banks served as clergy and provided the city with inspiration and encouragement as a radio personality for WARR 1520 AM. She took her ministry of love behind prison walls, thereby obtaining a Certificate of Appreciation from the Warren Correctional Institution for her services. She sacrificed her time to help others, all while attaining a degree in divinity from Shaw University Divinity School.

She was more than just a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, she wore many hats. She didn’t just talk about loving others like God loves us, but she succeeded in manifesting that love to others. Her generosity and selfless spirit touched everyone she encountered. A faithful member of the Warren County High School Eagle’s booster club, she supported all athletics in the city.
