Keep our EMS heroes in your thoughts this weekend as National EMS Week draws to a close.
On top of responding to 911 calls 24/7, the team at Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps has also worked tirelessly to distribute 25,000 masks to hospitals and EMS across the New York metro area.
To CVAC and all the emergency responders: Thank you.
We have reached the end of our celebration of National EMS Week. Today we want to recognize our volunteer membership. From COVID to medical emergencies, cardiac arrests to trauma, we are proud to serve our community.
Membership at all levels undergo many hours of ongoing training to keep skills sharp. Many have chosen to become drivers or EMTs and Youth corps members have continued on to become paramedics and doctors.
The dedication of our membership has been highlighted during this COVID-19 crisis. During the past 3 months CVAC has staffed a responding primary ambulamce on all calls, only requesting assistance for second calls in district. Crews have also been sent to assist our neighboring towns as a mutual aid ambulance.
Behind the scenes officers and members have helped stock the necessary PPE and review all the protocol changes, guidelines and procedures set forth by the state and county. Members have assisted in sanitation of ambulances and check of equipment.
CVAC has also been proud to partner with MAD Masks charity and help distribute 25,000 masks to other first responders and hospitals in Westchester and NYC. Members have helped make contacts and deliver these masks.
CVAC is proud to have a dedicated volunteer membership. We are NY EMS.
