🌱 This summer, our students took science to new heights!
Our IN-Tech Academy and WHEELS students took learning beyond the classroom through Urban Ecology in the Heights, exploring the connections between our environment, our history, and the communities we call home.
Throughout the summer, students got hands-on, removing nearly 600 pounds of invasive species and 75 pounds of trash and litter from NYC green spaces. They also took to the streets of Washington Heights to study air quality, surface temperatures, tree cover, walkability, and more.
To wrap up their learning, students brought it all together through final presentations, sharing their research, findings, and what they learned along the way. 🌳🔬
This is what Civic Science Leadership is all about: learning the science, bringing it to life, and advocating for change. đź’š
