It was one year ago today when my whole world was turned upside down. I was on a plane coming home from Australia when I got word that the Everest season had been cancelled. I went from the highest of highs, having just completed Summit #5 in eight months, to the lowest of lows, with the quest for Seven Summits in one year now over.

But a lot can change in a year. Here’s to being the one that tears things down and makes big things happen again this year. In three months I leave for Denali. One step up, one step forward.

Pic from Summit #4 Dec 2019. Man is it gonna be painful to rebuy those triple boots and all that climbing gear now. Darn wildfires...

2020: One ⭐️. Would not recommend.

There is no better way for the universe to say “eff your plans” than canceling your Everest season and burning down your house, relationship and everything you own. . I won’t miss you for a minute.

everyone. Let’s do this!

I originally created this image to support the fundraiser for , which I was climbing for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation in honor of one of my favorite people on Earth, . I picked a rainbow design because whenever you ask Lauren what her favorite color is, without fail she replies "rainbow." I always loved this because rainbows symbolize two things to me: hope and inclusiveness.

A global pandemic hit and things went sideways, so even though I got to climb Kosciuszko, we never got to throw that fundraiser. But despite all the negativity over the past few months, there have been a few bright spots, making this image feel more relevant than ever. Between the protests and Monday’s Supreme Court ruling protecting LGBTQ rights in the workplace, it finally feels like we’re headed in the right, inclusive direction. It may not happen fast, and it will never happen soon enough, but something big is happening, and it’s about time.

Who’s looking for something to do? Now that my Spring Cleaning challenge is over, it’s onto the next one! This is a challenge for all my runner friends, inspired by , who completed it last month. It’s called the 4x4x48 and the goal is to run 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours. So runner friends, who’s with me?

We’re about to have a heat wave here in the Bay Area, but thinking of attempting it next week once the temps cool down again. Ragnar team, you in? Former TriLifers? Climbing buddies? Because... WHAT ELSE DO YOU HAVE TO DO RIGHT NOW?

I’ve run uphill in the rain for hours on end. With the California shelter-at-home order extended through May 31, I think I can sit on my butt inside for a few more days (weeks).

Ok no I can’t. I finally fixed the treadmill in my garage.

Remember when we could get on planes? ✈️

Since launching my nonprofit, Do Better, in May 2019, I’ve been lucky enough to visit 10 countries to either climb, throw fundraisers, or travel to en route to climbs, climbing 5 of the Seven Summits in just 7 months. Crazy to believe that I’d be in Nepal for a month now, just three weeks out from an Everest summit attempt had everything gone as planned. But the new reality is that nothing goes as planned, and we’re not going anywhere for awhile, so there’s no better time to reminisce.

One never shared before shot from each country (except England due to the 10 photo limit).

Can’t wait to get back outside, on planes, and back to the mountains! Stay inside, stay safe and stay healthy everyone. ❤️
