Community2Community, Inc. Haitian Led. Community Empowering. Vision: Development With Dignity. Community2Community(C2C) believes in a world where communities in Haiti are self-sufficient.

Pou Ayiti Cherie🇭🇹A 501c3 nonprofit service and development organization mobilizing  financial & human resources to support the development of self-sufficient communities in Haïti. These communities would be able to secure their community’s basic needs: water, food, shelter, sanitation, and health/hygiene without the need for constant foreign aid. Our collaborative partnership model incorporates working with local engineers, teachers, skilled trades professionals and lay people in Haïti that go unseen and underutilized but have the skill sets to build up their community. Our vision is to support self-sufficient communities by working WITH the community. We mobilize financial and human resources to achieve our mission work. After reaching and normalizing self-sufficiency, our Partner Communities will be self-sustainable via their economic development plans to increase their socio-economic status to lead healthy and prosperous lives. Our goal is that C2C is the last non-profit our Partner Communities would work with as they become self-sufficient. This is narrative-changing work.

During my recent visit to Petit-Goâve, I spent time with our Community Stakeholder Partner ODCP to better understand the work happening around the canal construction as part of our Infrastructure Initiative.

This is part of what partnership looks like on the ground: meeting in the community, listening to local leaders, understanding where each partner serves and seeing the work as it is being carried forward. It is important to us for you to see where your donations are going.

Rural women are often at the center of what keeps a community moving forward.

In our Mountainside Partner Community, women are raising families, contributing to local livelihoods and helping shape the future they want for their children. Yet access to capital, business opportunities and financial services can still stand in the way of what they are ready to build.

That is why economic empowerment matters.

Through the Women’s Microfinance and Economic Empowerment Program, C2C Haïti is working alongside women to strengthen access to small loans, business training and the support needed to grow sustainable livelihoods.

On International Day of Rural Women, we celebrate their leadership, their ideas and their determination to build stronger futures on their own terms.

Children deserve more than a place to sit for class.

They deserve safety, stability and a school environment that gives them room to learn, grow and dream beyond survival.

That belief has carried our Mountainside Partner Community through years of rebuilding, sacrifice and determination. It is also what continues to make the community school possible today.

Looking back is not always easy, but it helps us remember why this work matters.

The early days of the school story were difficult. The conditions were not what any child deserved, but they also revealed something powerful: our Mountainside Partner Community was determined to keep education moving forward.

When we see where the journey began and where it is today, we are reminded that progress is built through commitment, sacrifice and partnership over time.

Purpose becomes clearer when you know the work is bigger than yourself.

Even when the temporary school shelter was damaged and unsafe, teachers like Professor Smith kept showing up. They used whatever space was available so children could continue learning.

That kind of commitment should never be taken lightly.

But passion alone should not have to hold a school together. Children deserve learning spaces that are safe, stable and built to support their future.

This is why we continued to walk alongside our Mountainside Partner Community in building long term, community-led solutions and constructing the permanent school building.

Before the permanent school became a plan, the community had already made a decision.

Parents in our Mountainside Partner Community chose to give up their planting wages so the money could go toward materials to construct a safer, permanent school building.

That is not a small thing. These are parents with their own children to prepare for school, their own homes to care for and their own needs to meet.
But they understood what was at stake.

Education was not just C2C Haïti’s priority. It was the community’s priority too.
This is what partnership looks like when people are building something they believe their children deserve.

This archive moment shows the kind of commitment that does not make headlines often enough.

After one of the hurricanes, teachers and community members in our Mountainside Partner Community did what they could to keep school going, even when the temporary school shelter was no longer safe or suitable for learning.

Professor Toma and the teaching team stayed focused because the children still needed a place to learn, even in difficult conditions.
That kind of dedication deserves more than admiration. It deserves support, stability and a learning environment that honors the value of every child.

Some beginnings are hard to look back on, but they help us remember why the work matters.

After the 2010 earthquake, children in our Mountainside Partner Community were learning in open spaces because the school structure they had was gone. Even the temporary shelter that came later could not fully protect them from the realities of hurricane season.

But the community had already made one thing clear: education was a priority.
That commitment is still part of the story C2C Haïti continues to build on today. Safe learning spaces matter because children deserve more than survival. They deserve stability, protection and the chance to grow.

When young people are brought into the room early, leadership has somewhere to go next.

In our Mountainside Partner Community, APHD is not only responding to today’s needs. They are making space for the next generation to learn, serve and understand what it means to carry responsibility for their own community.

That matters because sustainable development needs continuity. Schools, roads, healthcare access, reforestation and economic opportunity last longer when ownership is passed from one generation to the next.

This is the kind of partnership C2C Haïti believes in: work that strengthens people today and prepares leaders for tomorrow.
