When we were growing up, "Tales by Moonlight" meant gathering together to hear stories that taught us who we are.
On September 21, Africa Everything teamed up to bring that exact feeling to Columbia University creating a powerful space for dialogue, connection, and community. 🌙
Tales by Moonlight: An Evening of African Storytelling filled the Alumni Auditorium with people who came to listen, laugh, and be seen. On stage were four women whose stories move the world: Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani, Stephanie Busari, Beverly Naya, and Aya Fubara Eneli, Esq. I had the privilege of moderating, and Tarari Kalango opened the evening with a beautiful keynote.
We talked about books, film, truth telling, and what it means to tell our own stories on our own terms. Then we stayed long after, signing books, taking pictures, and holding on to the moment.
This evening was dedicated to Chief Black, who lived his life telling stories. Honoring him this way surrounded by this incredible community meant more than I can put into words.
