Our why? ✨Dando a Luz✨ was born out of love & remembrance for the babies & mothers we’ve lost too soon, including Owen, Malakhi & his mother, Demi.

They deserved care that saw them, heard them, & acted in time. Every tragic or traumatic perinatal experience, including those often carried silently in the Latine community, is a call to pause, listen, learn, & build something better.

🕯️🪽 If you’re joining us, please feel free to bring a photo of someone you’re honoring for our altar. Together we’ll remember them as we learn, connect, & expand what it means to care for Latine families from pregnancy through postpartum.

The children & mothers we’ve lost are so much more than a statistic. They are our purpose, & their memory moves us forward.

This our babies were heard 🧸🏛️❤️‍🔥

PUSH Director Ana Vick (Ana Lepe Vick • Mom + Baby Advocate) carried her son Owen's memorial bear to Washington, DC for National Stillbirth Prevention & Awareness Day — and from a Congressional Roundtable to one-on-one meetings with legislators, she and parent advocates from across the US made sure everyone they met would know: every baby born still .

After hundreds of submissions from stillbirth families throughout the nation, we are excited to reveal the final design for Owen Bear's onesie featuring one name from every state on the front.

But flip to the back, and you'll find something we kept as a surprise: every single name submitted, all in one place. Because a baby whose name wasn't drawn for the front is not a baby who mattered less. Every single name is here, and made the trip to Capitol Hill with Ana & Owen. 😊

This only happened because of an incredible community — our partners at Healthy Birth Day, Inc.-Leader in Stillbirth Prevention Measure the Placenta & many more, friends old and new, the families who trusted us with their baby's name, and the many legislators who took the time to listen.

Owen Bear's onesie for National Stillbirth Prevention Day keeps filling in ❤️‍🩹 Thank you to every family who's added their baby's name so far.

PUSH Director Ana Vick (Ana Lepe Vick • Mom + Baby Advocate) and her son Owen's memorial bear are headed to DC to make a statement with a onesie emblazoned with one baby's name from every state: stillbirth families united across all 50 states, demanding change in our children's names.

If your baby was one of the 65 born still every single day in this country, we want them to be part of this historic action, along with our partners at Healthy Birth Day, Inc.-Leader in Stillbirth Prevention & Stillbirth Health Improvement and Education SHINE For Autumn Act, and stillbirth parent advocates like our friends at Measure the Placenta who are traveling from across the nation to advocate in ALL our babies' names.

Every name submitted will be highlighted in our social posts, whether or not it's the one drawn for your state. Because every baby born still !

Big news for stillbirth prevention! HHS just announced a $4 million initiative to expand rapid, point-of-care syphilis testing for pregnant women — reaching them in emergency departments, correctional intake settings, and other nontraditional care settings, not just traditional prenatal visits.

Why this matters: congenital syphilis cases have risen for 12 straight years, with nearly 4,000 cases reported in 2024. In 2023 alone, syphilis contributed to 279 stillbirths and infant deaths — and an estimated 83% of those cases were preventable with timely testing and treatment. More than 40% of moms who delivered a baby with congenital syphilis weren't tested in time.

PUSH is grateful to see a known, preventable root cause of stillbirth finally getting real investment. Rapid tests mean rapid treatment — and that means more babies coming home. 💙

Funding rolls out through CDC's Division of STD Prevention from August 2026–February 2027, targeting jurisdictions with the highest syphilis and congenital syphilis burden.

Every stillbirth prevented starts with catching preventable causes like this one. 👏

We’re celebrating a milestone years in the making! 🤩

HRSA (the Health Resources and Services Administration) has officially recognized the rate of stillbirth as a National Outcome Measure.

What does that mean? Stillbirth is now counted among the outcomes our nation uses to measure progress in maternal and infant health.

Our Director of Education, Liz, breaks down what this milestone means and why it matters emphasizing, “Because what we measure helps shape what we prioritize.”

And when we prioritize something, we fund it, study it, build systems around it, and train providers to prevent it.

Our beloved babies are now being counted — and that unacceptable count will help drive the resources needed to prevent future losses.

This didn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of years of advocacy from loss parents, providers, and organizations who refused to let stillbirth stay in the shadows of maternal health conversations.

We’re deeply grateful to Healthy Birth Day, Inc.-Leader in Stillbirth Prevention for their leadership and collaboration to help bring stakeholders together to make this recognition possible.

At PUSH, we’re continuing to build the education and implementation resources providers need to turn this national priority into everyday practice.
