Visit "Cara Romero: Panûpünüwügai (Living Light)" at the Phoenix Art Museum before if closes on June 28.

Born in Inglewood, California in 1977, Cara Romero is known for dramatic fine art photography that examines Indigenous life in contemporary contexts. An enrolled citizen of the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe, Romero was raised between contrasting settings: the rural Chemehuevi reservation in Mojave Desert, California, and the urban sprawl of Houston, Texas.

Organized by the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, this exhibition is the first major solo exhibition exploring the narrative artistic practice of the Chemehuevi photographer and presents more than 50 works Romero created between 2013 and 2024. The exhibition features new and never-before-seen photographs, site-specific installations, large scale photographs, and iconic views across five thematic sections.

Join ArtTable for a curator-led tour of "Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Icon" with Sophia Serrano on June 13.

This exhibition will celebrate Marilyn Monroe—born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926—as a visionary actor and image-maker, examining the many facets of how she created and shaped her public image in the context of the classical Hollywood studio system.

Presenting hundreds of original objects, including posters, portraits, photographs, production documents, letters, and rarely seen personal materials—many of which will be on display for the first time—the exhibition will give unique insight into her agency in becoming a Hollywood icon.

We would like to wish a very happy 90th birthday to long time ArtTable member Randy Rosen!

An independent curator, adviser, author, and an adjunct professor at New York University’s School of Professional Studies, Randy actively contributed to ArtTable's history and growth, organizing innovative programs and spearheading innumerable initiatives that have helped raise ArtTable’s voice and visibility in the art world. Working with ArtTable founder Lila Harnett and founding member Carol Morgan, Randy helped launch and edit ArtWire, the organization’s first newsletter.

As an officer of the Board and a member of the Board’s Executive Committee, Randy advocated for strategic program planning and partnerships that would establish ArtTable as a “change-maker” organization elevating the status of professional women in the visual arts, but also as an outward-looking platform engaging with thought-leaders and ground-breaking artists bringing new ideas and issues to the art world discourse.

Happy birthday, Randy!

ArtTable 2020 New Leadership Awardee Wassan Al-Khudhairi has been tapped by Art Basel as the artistic director for its second Qatar edition in 2027, which will take place in Doha’s Msheireb district from January 28–30.

The fair's theme is "between / بين," which explores the condition of being "between" as a generative space, one that remains open and refuses a singular definition. Rather than arriving at fixed positions, between / بين dwells in relation, holding open a space for encounter, exchange, and fluidity, asking what becomes possible when the "between" is not a gap to be closed, but a place to inhabit.

Congratulations, Wassan!

“ArtTable's mission is more important than ever. Creating opportunity, visibility, and confidence for the next generation isn't optional. It is our shared responsibility, and I'm very proud to stand with you and make my commitment to that effort.” - Bonnie Brennan, CEO Christie’s, 2026 ArtTable Annual Benefit and Award Ceremony.

Programs like Table for Two are just one example of how ArtTable creates meaningful connections across the field.

Join ArtTable at Gallery Wendi Norris for an artist talk & exhibition walkthrough with Ranu Mukherjee on May 26!

Ranu Mukherjee (b. 1966, Boston, MA) works across painting, moving image, installation, and performance. Her practice brings together saturated color, layered material processes, and shifting temporal structures to explore questions of visibility, abstraction, ecology, migration, and non-human agency. Drawing on Indian textiles, print, pigment, animation, and choreography, Mukherjee creates densely layered works that reflect on possible futures, diaspora, mythology, and the afterlife of colonial histories.
