Important Outdoor Dining Hearing
DO YOU WANT TO KEEP OUTDOOR DINING? IF SO, YOU NEED TO TESTIFY ON FEBRUARY 8TH. PLEASE READ BELOW.
https://myemail.constantcontact.com/Take-Action--Important-Outdoor-Dining-Hearing.html?soid=1116674519904&aid=UZPAIcqAgds

On Tuesday, February 8th at 10:00am the City Council will hold an important public hearing on two proposals that will determine the future of the outdoor dining in NYC. These polices will allow the city to transition out of the temporary emergency Open Restaurants program, to a permanent version with new guidelines in the future.

Please note, there has grown a large organized opposition group to NYC's outdoor dining, who are complaining about noise, reduced parking and sanitary issues in 'their' neighborhoods. Most of these are isolated cases and blown out of proportion. These groups may have forgotten that they live in an 'urban' environment and why they moved to NYC to begin with. They are failing to grasp the real toll that COVID continues to wreak on the restaurant industry.

If you can attend and lend your voice, please help.

I was just sent this Curnside Canvas-like opportunity for all our Curbside Canvas artists and all artists across the city. It's NYC's annual Barrier Beautification project. If chosen, I believe a decent stipend is involved. But the deadline is coming up fast--Sunday Feb 13, so hurry. Here's a link to the details:
https://www1.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/barrier-beautification-rfp.pdf

Good luck!

"NYC DOT partners with volunteer service organizations and corporate volunteer programs to paint murals onto jersey barriers located along bike lanes and sidewalks. Barrier sites range in size from 200 to 2000 feet in length. An open call is released annually to solicit design concepts from professional artists for implementation at barrier sites citywide. Selected artists are assigned sites within one of the five boroughs and must be willing to adapt conceptual designs to any location. Artists are responsible for producing stencils and overseeing mural ex*****on with volunteer assistance. NYC DOT collaborates with selected artists to implement projects within two months of approval. In addition to a design fee, NYC DOT provides additional materials and support to realize the murals."
