Tashanda Thomas
Senior Vice President & Chief People and Culture Officer, Foodlink

A dynamic leader in Human Resources across both nonprofit and for-profit sectors, Tashanda aligns people strategy with purpose. At Foodlink, she builds strong relationships, strengthens organizational culture, and ensures that business strategy and human impact go hand in hand. Her unwavering commitment to women, children, inclusion, and the Rochester community is not only professional — it is deeply personal.

Tashanda’s service extends far beyond her career. She recently served as Chair of the Willow Domestic Violence Center Board and continues to serve on the Monroe Community College Board of Trustees, the St. John Fisher University Alumni Board, and the YMCA HR Committee. Her leadership also includes serving as a Commissioner on the City of Rochester Civil Service Commission.

Her excellence has been recognized time and time again — ATHENA Finalist, Rodney A. Young Community Service Award recipient, Rochester Business Journal Circle of Excellence Honoree, Monroe Community College Alumni Hall of Fame inductee, Top 50 HR Professional, Women of Excellence Honoree, “Ten Under 10,” and “Forty Under 40.”

Commissioner, Monroe County Department of Human Services

With more than 20 years of dedicated service in child welfare and social services, Commissioner Wright has been a transformative force in Rochester and Monroe County for the past six years. Through her leadership at DHS, she and her team provide critical income support, medical assistance, and comprehensive services that uplift children, families, and elderly residents — always centering care, dignity, and equity.

A true servant leader, Thalia believes in meeting people where they are. Her commitment to systemic redesign has helped make essential services more accessible, less complex, and more person-centered. She is a powerful advocate for social justice, working across New York State to improve outcomes for children and families of color involved in juvenile justice and child welfare systems.

From her early career as a Child Protective Services Investigator and Homeless Outreach Worker to serving as Regional Director for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Thalia’s impact spans decades and disciplines.
