Commissioner, Monroe County Department of Human Services
With more than 20 years of dedicated service in child welfare and social services, Commissioner Wright has been a transformative force in Rochester and Monroe County for the past six years. Through her leadership at DHS, she and her team provide critical income support, medical assistance, and comprehensive services that uplift children, families, and elderly residents β always centering care, dignity, and equity.
A true servant leader, Thalia believes in meeting people where they are. Her commitment to systemic redesign has helped make essential services more accessible, less complex, and more person-centered. She is a powerful advocate for social justice, working across New York State to improve outcomes for children and families of color involved in juvenile justice and child welfare systems.
From her early career as a Child Protective Services Investigator and Homeless Outreach Worker to serving as Regional Director for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Thaliaβs impact spans decades and disciplines.
A proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, a 2025 Athena International Award Finalist, and a member of Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society, she embodies the very essence of the Power of S.H.E. β Social Health & Economic Justice.
